My daughter applied there (her audition is next month) and I’d appreciate feedback if anyone is familiar with the school and program. Thank you!
Oh boy, I wish I proofed the title before posting it. It should say “Is anyone familiar with the BFA in MT at the University of Florida”
I honestly didn’t even know that they had a BFA MT.
As of 2015, they only accepted four incoming freshmen and at that time the program seemed to be in flux and a lot of the faculty was turning over. Not sure where things stand now. I’m a Gator alum (not for MT) and I love the school but the MT program seemed like an afterthought there. The curriculum was very heavy on core academic classes (again, this was a couple years ago), which made that program a hard NO for my D. UF doesn’t have the reputation for MT that FSU and Miami has. That said, in-state tuition is a BARGAIN and if your child likes the huge college campus feel, and sports then you cant go wrong as a Florida Gator!
Thank you @Bogeyw! We are big Gator fans, but my MT daughter wasn’t planning to apply until we met the Director of the program at Performing Arts College Fair. He really impressed us, and his plans for the program are amazing.
I know a few folks who’ve gone through the MFA. Incredibly talented. Also have a friend who has his BFA from the program and has been incredibly successful. Radio City, Music Theatre Wichita, West Side Story national tour, etc.
Great to know, thanks @AlexaMT!
