After getting all my admission decisions back, I’ve narrowed down my list to these three schools: (1) The University of Notre Dame, (2) Penn State Schreyer Honors College, and (3) The University of Virginia. My primary deciding factor would be fit, so I visited Schreyer already and will be visiting and staying overnight at ND and U.Va. in the next few weeks. I am majoring in Engineering (undecided, probably chemical or biomedical), but I would rather make my decision off fit, not rankings. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, so it’s 2.5 hrs to PSU, and 5 hrs to both ND and U.Va.
Ultimately, my goal with my college education is to get a successful job, but it seems like companies would view these colleges with equal regard. As of now, I don’t have any leanings towards one school (which is annoying since everyone keeps saying “oh you’ll get that gut feeling” but it hasn’t happened). I really don’t want to have any regrets with my decision, but at least I know I can’t go wrong with any of these colleges!
What are you looking for in a college environment? From what I know, Virginia is very beautiful and great for people who are looking for a suburban college environment (this is my personal favorite). It has a lot of outdoor dining and (in my opinion) a very happy feel to it. The students and the people who live around it get along pretty well. It also has a lot of history so it’s great if your into that kind of stuff. I don’t know much about the other colleges but I do no that PSU is bigger and has more of an urban feel to it. Notre Dame is beautiful as well.
I’d imagine the decision has already been made?
