Hi all! So I’ve been accepted into the above three schools, and now I’m facing a dilemma because all three are appealing to me and all three are the ones I was most excited to get accepted into. I know I have a lot to think about on my own time, but it’d still be great if I could get some input from people who have some sort of personal experience with any of these schools.
I’ll list some pros and cons I have with each:
OREGON
Pros: I’ve been accepted into their Honors College, they’re giving me a LOT of money, every Duck I’ve met has been super personable and nice, and I love Eugene and its optimal location near Portland and Seattle; this last point is especially important to me, as I’d like to live in either of those cities (if possible) after graduating
Cons: it’s a major sports school which I’m not sure I’m down with, and I know a lot of people who are going there - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as I don’t have any personal beefs with these people, but I’d still like to go into a school relatively anonymous
SANTA CRUZ
Pros: the Bay Area is like a second home to me and I love it dearly, I’m completely in love with their campus and its vibe (especially the awesome library with its shrine to Jerry Garcia, haha), Kresge Hall seems like a perfect place for me to live, and I really like the way they’ve laid out their environmental science program
Cons: Santa Cruz is sort of a sketchy town, and lots of people have been telling me that the UC system has been going downhill (although I know this isn’t a lot to go on)
PITZER
Pros: I really like the campus, all 5 of their core values really resonate with me, I think I could do really well in a liberal arts structure, their community service program is very cool, and I love the fact that they really champion study-abroad opportunities
Cons: it’s very close to home for me, I get the feeling I’d get sort of tired of Claremont after a while, and it’s VERY expensive
So yeah, any input would be very much appreciated - thank you for your time
