University of Penn Wharton(undergrad)

Hello CC. I am a high school student who is interested in majoring in economics in Wharton. I really want to get into Wharton. If you are from Wharton, can you answer questions below? Thank you for your time

  1. How many students apply and get accepted to Wharton?
  2. What kind of applicants do Wharton admission look for?
  3. When you apply to Wharton, do you apply with specific major?
  4. What do graduates of Wharton usually become after they graduate?
  5. Please tell me any information that will help me get into Wharton
  1. Penn doesn't release admissions statistics for each of it's of its schools. While you are admitted to one of the four undergraduate schools at Penn, admissions is a holistic process and the admissions office is building one class of 2400 students, not four separate, independent classes. Consequently, nobody but the admissions office knows how many students apply to Wharton and how many are admitted. Though, Penn's admissions rate is 9.9% and all of the 4 undergraduate schools have admissions rates around that number with the College's most closely mirroring the stats for the entire class due to its disproportionate size and consequent impact on Penn's stats overall.
  2. Check out this webpage on FAQs for Wharton: http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/faq/
  3. Wharton only offers a BS in Economics, thus, in applying to Wharton you are inherently applying with a specific major. However, you do not need to declare your intended concentration (finance, management, etc. etc.) until you are well into your career at Penn.
  4. Here is information for the entire Penn class of 2014 (http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/files/Class2014CareerPlans.pdf) and specifically Wharton (http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/files/WHA_2014cp.pdf). All of these reports can be found on the career services website under Career Plans Surveys (http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/reports.php).
  5. There is no trick to getting into Penn. Be yourself and put your best foot forward.
