My D too. Still hoping for Stanford. If not, she’s happy going to Cornell.

@neonpinklime did you get an email?

I got an email. Was released as well.

My daughter received an email. She didn’t notice it right away because it went to her spam folder. Here’s the contents of the email:

Released as well.

I was released too. Everyone I wish you the best at your future colleges and beyond!

likewise released. good luck to all!

I haven’t gotten an email and I didn’t find anything in my junk mail either. Anyone else still not hear anything?

^ me neither, nothing yet,

Nor have I. I hope to gawd this is a good sign.

@wallymolly I was deciding between Northwestern and Cornell. I liked Northwestern better for many reasons, but Cornell is so big I’m sure we’ll find our type of people.

What does it mean if we didn’t get any email?

I’m going to Northwestern if they don’t take me and perhaps apply for transfer to the Ivies again (yuck…the thought of going through all the trauma once again)

I just got an email about an extended active waitlist. Does anyone know how big the list is now?

Just got this in the email;

Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Pennsylvania and for remaining on the Wait List for the Class of 2018.

We are retaining a small number of applicants, including you, on our active Wait List. It is possible that a few spots will become available, and we want to continue to consider you for admission to Penn. We expect to know if we will extend any additional offers by mid-June.

Sincerely,

Eric J. Furda ’87
Dean of Admissions

Lucky duck. Congrats!

@bodangles thank you! Hope fully it works out, not sure on the odds with this.

So has Penn accepted people already? Or do they just accept people off the active waitlist? Sorry I am so confused haha. I was placed on the active waitlist.

^ According to posters in this thread (look back a few pages), some applicants were accepted from the wait list a little more than a week ago, and given a week to accept the offer. Apparently, now that the Admissions Office has heard back from those applicants, it has released most of the other wait listed applicants from the wait list, and is keeping a few applicants on an extended wait list until the middle of June in case any more spaces open up (e.g., another accepted applicant decides to take a gap year, or is accepted off of another school’s wait list, etc.). This is similar to what Penn has done the last few years, and all wait list action should be pretty much concluded by mid to late June.

Any idea how small the active waiting list is?

^ Last year, there were about 100 applicants on the extended wait list:
