WAITLIST (come discuss)

So, i got waitlisted.

In the FAQ, it states 4% are put on waitlist. Math tells us 24000 applicants → 960 on the waitlist.

My question is how many applicants are offered direct admission, considering there are 2300? 2400? available spots.

Historically, how many get in off the waitlist?

Additionally, it says the waitlist isnt ranked, so what’s procedure to picking who gets in off the waitlist?

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL WAITLISTED APPLICANTS

I got waitlisted too... Really curious how they go about picking out of 960 kids! Typically, how many slots are usually available for waitlisted applicants?

From US news

Penn Fall 06 admissions

Qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list:
1,296
Applicants accepting a place on waiting list:
584
Students enrolled from waiting list:
35

Time to move on

ouch I did not think there were so many on the waitlist...

I'm one of those...better not start thinking about it ;) Still, we were somewhat close ;)

I'm hoping that a lot of ppl will not be too interested and leave open slots for us. By the way, if Penn doesn't have lots of people enroll (for whatever reason), would all those spots be filled by the waitlisted?

yeah same here.
penn's my #1... tears :(

Ok so, i understand that chances are very very low

1 in 15-20 or so.

Another question though: since i applied to Wharton, is the only way i can be accepted off the waitlist is if someone who got admission to wharton declines or if someone at any school under Penn declines?

Because, I would assume anyone applying to Wharton (undeniable #1 business school) would accept admission, and my chances, which are already a long shot, would become non-existent.

I'm waitlisted at Wharton, too, and yes, they'd only admit Wharton waitlisters if those accepted RD to Wharton decline.

IS there a waitlist for Huntsman?

I got waitlisted too...
Ok haha after reading stats, time to move on =_=

Hey guys, I have a question. Would Penn review the newly submitted materials that you send in to determine whether or not you are worthy of being unwaitlisted (granted a chance comes up), or do they review your entire application over? I'm just guessing that they wouldn't have to review the entire app again since you've made it this far, but would instead just review the materials they ask for. Someone please help I'm curious.

Thanx

So I got waitlisted....and it says 4% get waitlist...i figure about half of them will give up and move on...so that leaves about 450 of us left on the waitlist...I'm just gonna send a letter saying that Penn is my first choice and send a deposit to either Providence or BC and whatever happens, with Penn, happens...I'd be very happy at PC or BC too!

I was waitlisted as well. Eh, not counting on anything.

i was waitlisted...to be honest im surprised i was even waitlisted, i was for sure expecting a straight up reject haha

I'm still clinging on to that bit of the Penn dream...
though it kind of sucks that you can't be excited about Penn, and instead you get pumped about going to another school... and then if you get accepted, it all changes! lol I so have no clue what to do now.

I'm waitlisted too!

I was expecting flat out rejection. It was like, "we're sorry that we cant offer you a place in out class blah blah... but (i was like, but? BUT? B U T?) we would like to offer you a place on the waiting list blah blah".

Welcome to wait-list limbo, folks :) I was wait-listed at TWO schools. This bites. Big time.

Guys, I got waitlisted(SEAS). If there is a separate waitlist for each school, Do i stand any chance?

I know its not really answerable, But well I Am nervous, Penn's my #1

I've been waitlisted... so did two of my friends...

You could really really try but I really doubt that you will get in. Waitlist in many respects is a joke. Penn, like other schools, over admits because they know that people will choose not to come. After those people decide not to come, then Penn has just enough students. If you really want to come to Penn, I'd say go to a challenging school and get a high GPA so that you can transfer.
