1) Does anyone have, or know where to find, any stats about how hard it is to get into Arts & Sciences vs. Wharton? I'm interested in A & S, and I'm wondering if Penn's 12% (according to a website) rate is mainly because of Wharton (which would be great).

2) How much would my choice of major matter? I'm an English major, and I'm thinking of doubling in Italian or Linguistics. English has to be a fairly common major, but it also isn't impacted (if that matters). (I'd be applying to be a junior transfer.)

What you are asking is transfer into Wharton which isn't in the stat pool of admits of Frosh into Wharton.

Transfer is a whole different animal and as a junior I think more so. Good Luck.

What kind of school are you in now? Are you considering a joint program or dual degree? Would you submatriculate into a Penn grad program.....I think lots of factors could influence your application. Have you spoken with anyone in the department at Penn?

I'm at CU Boulder now. I wasn't planning on double-degreeing; I just want to major in English in Arts & Sciences, maybe add a major. I haven't spoken to anyone in the department at Penn yet.

Do you mean that the Wharton transfer stats aren't calculated into the 12%?

** Each year approximately 175 students transfer into Penn's four undergraduate schools, selected from over 1,900 applicants.

**Transfer students who wish to matriculate into the Wharton School must do so through initial admission to the University; externally admitted transfer students are not permitted to transfer again within the University. Transfer students enrolled in the other three undergraduate schools may still take Wharton courses but will not be able to transfer internally once they are at Penn. Applicants already holding undergraduate degrees will not be considered for transfer admissions to Wharton.

Does that help you see what the stat pool is?

Hey, you are more than a stat.....put the app in, make the most of what you have and see what happens. No losses without trying that is certain. I think you should apply really. Take the chance, make the effort. You just never know.

i agree with hazmat. i transferred to penn this year, into my junior year. just apply and see what happens. you could be pleasantly surprised...
