University of Pennsylvania RD Class of 2021

@ghvan99 I had a missing document

I had two missing documents: 2015 Tax Return and my parents’ W2s. I thought they got those from IDOC, so I didn’t realize I had to submit them directly to the school.

Did any internationals applying for aid get this letter? (In Canada if that makes a difference) Also if I didn’t qualify for aid would they still ask me for docs if I were to get accepted?

I wish I got the letter… I definitely have things missing. Oh well :frowning:
But I’m not sure if this is specific to Penn because I was accepted to BU without submitting all of my documents and they didn’t even notify me that anything was missing beforehand. Is it possible to be accepted without being notified?

@hopelessopus12 Of course, just sit tight till Ivy Day

Literally have not found one person rejected that got the letter. Out of 20 or so one person was waitlisted.

The only way to know if it actually means something is if someone who didn’t submit the Penn Financial Aid Supplement (PFAS) ended up not getting a letter. I think there’s too many of you replying about the letter for it to really mean anything. Maybe they just sent it in the mail for urgency? Some people don’t check email that often. Anyways, I wouldn’t get too excited and then get your hopes up, until someone says they didn’t get the letter and didn’t submit PFAS.

I didn’t submit the PFAS and did not get a letter. I fully expect a rejection though.

Do the Ivies release their financial aid information along with the acceptance letters? Or we have to wait for them after we get accepted(IF WE GET ACCEPTED)?

Missing documents acceptance! A special new category. :slight_smile:

Now that you are probably accepted, anybody here wonder if Penn or any Ivy will be too much work?

If you didn’t get the email it doesn’t mean you won’t get in. I chose “no” for financial aid for UPenn. That means I won’t get any missing documents email.

I chose yes for financial aid but I didn’t file anything except the fafsa. I didn’t even bother filling out the penn financial aid supplement on the portal. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get it? Or maybe I got rejected

I think getting a financial aid letter might be a good sign to those of you that applied for aid and were missing documents. But if you applied for aid and are missing documents and didn’t get a letter it doesn’t mean it’s a bad sign. They probably go through the financial aid applications in batches and probably just haven’t gotten to everyone’s yet. I bet there are people that are missing documents that will get in regardless of whether or not you got a letter. (Not sure how it will impact your aid though, that’s a different question.)

How much do you think having legacy helps in admissions?

@charcoalatey2021

If it’s undergraduate legacy, the impact can be relatively large. If your parent(s) has/have been very active in the Penn community, even after graduation, the impact can be larger. Donations from legacies will take you very far. Legacy is definitely considered in the ED round, but its impact may not be as high during the RD round.

You have hit the jackpot if you apply ED and are the legacy of parents who contribute to the Penn community socially, organizationally, and monetarily.

i think legacy is only really considered in ed?

@ByteZz Hm ok- thank you! :slight_smile:
