University of Pennsylvania RD Class of 2021

Oh, bummer. Looking for hope.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1113085-financial-aid-missing-documents-notification-now-p2.html guys heres another link supporting our theory im so excited! Really praying im not waitlisted.

@stressedsenior99 AHHHHHHHH

So we either get accepted or waitlisted?

@collleegeKid I think so, but dont get your hopes up you never know

I didn’t get any emails about financial aid but I did everything I was supposed to soooooooo

Anyone willing to take the risk of trying to make an enrollment deposit? I would but I’m too chicken… http://www.sfs.upenn.edu/paymybill/wire-transfer-admissions-deposit.htm

@India1234 all I get when trying to do this is that I have an incorrect email/password. I dont believe this, or any other login portal, will be any indicator at this time. For example, Notre Dame’s commit portal only updates at 6pm (exactly 42 minutes before notifications are released).

I made an account and THEN proceeded to open the link. I put in my Common App ID Number and next I had to put in my “method of payment” and that’s when I stopped.

I read the thread and I think the person that was waitlisted didn’t get the financial aid letter.

@800math I was able to, but I think we all may be able to?

@nerdbregade I think we can all do it. The website can be used for many things, one of them being paying the enrollment deposit for UPENN.

@800math we all can, even changing my DOB and CAID doesn’t stop me from submitting, so I do not think there is a correlation between this and admissions.

@Classtwentyone after reading all of the posts of the individual in question, I agree. It seems more likely that they did not get the letter and are stating a correlation between the latter and accepts bc they were waitlisted. Otherwise I believe they would have said “there is no correlation…I was waitlisted” they never say they received the letter, so it’s all in the perspective you take when you read it. However, now thinking about it, I really do think they did not receive it.

wait can someone post the email?

@skigur99 Yessss someone please!

Ok so if your an international applicant, you ONLY need to fill out the CSS/Profile form from the college board - NOT the PFAS or submit tax returns or anything else. So theres still hope lol

Thursday better come quick i hate this…

@hibaibtoivy you can say that again. Yaay! (I hope it’s true tho :-/ )

RE: Financial letter. My son got one from Princeton; the threads on CC seemed to show a correlation with acceptance. However, a person related to the university said that if that was once the case, the university has taken steps to make sure that it is no longer a correlation. I imagine the admissions office at Penn went through similar situations since 2011.

At the same time, it is hard to imagine that the office would pour through the files looking for missing papers from candidates that it isn’t considering. Although with technology the way it is, I can imagine that it isn’t too cumbersome of a task.

A friend of mine asked about it with a friend in admissions who said the letter was “standard” and didn’t mean anything. I guess I’d say don’t let logic get your hopes up too much. That way there will be no disappointment.

Sigh. Correlation does not imply causation.

The general rule of thumb is don’t try to read the tea leaves. The only thing that matters is the decision on 3/30. You should assume that if there were a backdoor that teenagers can find, the more experienced AO’s will have already found a way to plug it.
