I looked at my D’s acceptance letter from 2014. It mentioned that she is eligible to participate in the honors college and that she qualifies for conditional admission to the School of Pharmacy, contingent on successful completion of the pre-pharmacy curriculum.
@Sgmom17 I received email saying they will wait until they receive my October ACT Scores until they make a decision. They did not request mid-year grades
If the FAFSA is submitted and sent to Pitt in Oct. (since it opened today), does financial aid information for accepted students come shortly after? Outside of merit scholarships, when would a student get a financial aid letter for any other type of aid?
Just got accepted!!! #H2P
Applied 9/18
Funny story, turns out the acceptance email went to my spam folder on 9/29 so be sure to check there. I’m extremely excited.
I wish all of you the best of luck!!!
@MomtoAndrew2018, We can see the items from your profile that you imported to the Pitt application in Coalition. If you take a look at the Pitt application specifically, you will see what we see. Best of luck to your son!
@cjam2022, Merit scholarship award letters are sent out between November-February. Financial Aid notification letters are sent out in February-March.
@hailtopitt1787 I just looked in Coalition and it turns out, the only sections that are imported to Pitt application are:
Personal Info, Contact Info, Demographic Info, Family Info, High School Info, College Info and Financial Aid.
I don’t see EC, Honors, or a bunch of other stuff that sit in Profile section. Is this intended? Does it mean Pitt does not want those information to be imported (this is not something S can choose).
@hailtopitt1787 Ok, I just called and was told that S will need to fill out SRAR on Pitt web portal. Also, ECs and Honors are not imported and will not be used for his application.
@MomtoAndrew2018, The team that designed the Coalition application put a lot of thought into it’s design. We do not ask for resumes or lists of EC’s and instead focus on the thoughtful responses students provide in their Short Answer Question responses.
If you have more questions about the Coalition application, you are welcome to contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.
Other than merit there might be student loans, federal and state grants, and work study included in the financial aid offer. Some very low income (OOS) students might also get a need based grant from Pitt.
Does anybody have any recommendations regarding revisiting Pitt? Our older student did accepted student days toward the end of the admissions cycle, but this is our first experience with rolling admissions (love it!) Would love for our daughter to have best possible revisit experience.
@RelocatedYankee we did an Admitted students day last April after our daughter had been accepted. It was a really nice presentation and she was very excited to Commit to Pitt after that visit. She had also toured it in the fall.
@ReclocatedYankee, If your daughter has already visited campus and has been admitted - we recommend one of our Day for Admitted Students events, which will be offered in the spring. Dates for those events will be posted later this fall.
@hailtopitt1787 I got a letter today asking for mid year grades. I applied for nursing which I know is competitive and fills up quickly, so by mid year (December/January) wouldn’t all the spots be taken?
@jenn214, Please call our office to ask questions about the mid-year grades request. We can look up your account and give you much more personalized information: 412-624-7488.
Our program is competitive, but you shouldn’t worry that all of the seats will be filled by December.
I applied earlier than some of the people on this thread. While they have gotten letters already, I’m still waiting on mine. I thought rolling admissions meant first come first serve. Does this mean that they are only sending out acceptances, and that I did not get in, or is it just that they haven’t gotten to my application yet?
@LondonBridges, If you applied in late July/early August, it takes us a little longer to review your application. If you would like to give us a call to check on the status of your specific application, you can reach us at 412-624-7488.
@hailtopitt1787 how do I report dual credit classes on the self reported grades part. Do I put the DC classes under the college transcript AND high school transcript or just one of them??
