@ECMD03 Yes the letter states if you have been accepted into the honors college and if you will be considered for merit.
I think you might have been referring to me. I applied 10/19 for engineering, buttons changed yesterday but I have yet to get the official acceptance email/letter.
Stats-- 1560 (new) SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.4 ish weighted GPA
Are the accepted students being considered for merit all people with SATs over 1500? I have a junior who is likely to apply next year and his first SAT is âonlyâ 1480, which looks like it might have been the cutoff last year. Weâre visiting next week!
@eh1234 --he has time to take it again for sure. A few more points into the 1500s can make thousands of dollars of difference if he has the matching GPA.
@DogsAndMath23 wow fantastic. Congrats to you.
@eh1234 - yes, in our case SAT was 1550.
Also - wanted to make sure people are checking the correct website.
The one at mypitt.edu --> check my application --> self serviceâŠstill only show completed app.
HOWEVER, the website that is essentially the pitt mobile app on the web is the website where the buttons change and indicate that a student was accepted.
@CValle I currently donât have the Pitt application on my phone, but I really want to see if I have the buttons. What website in particular are you referring to? I only know of the mypitt.edu one and it only shows that my application is completed.
Just to be clear on the process, at least from our end. Dâs acceptance letter said Honors College and will be considered for merit aid. About a week later she received letters from MedGAP with instructions on how to complete the application and deadlines, and from the Honors College making her participation official. No merit letter from OAFA yet, but itâs early for that according to the website.
S just received his email with a link to the video of acceptance. So excited. Buttons changed on 10/30.
Applied 10/11, buttons flipped on 10/30, acceptance email 11/1!
Private school
GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1380
6 APs all honor classes 9-12

Tons of volunteer work
Got acceptance email today! Applied 10/20 and buttons changed 10/30
Thank you!
This is the web interface for the mobile app.
@carachel2 & @momclassof2018 , any news on the medical GAP invitation ? We havenât heard back yet. I called admissions a couple of times and sent an email to the person who reviews applications for med GAP, but no response yet. Getting really anxious as we are running out of time.
@hailtopitt1787 , is there anything you could do for us?
@bsms2018, Hello! If you contacted the GAP person directly, that is the route I would recommend. They should get in touch with you shortly.
If you have applied before November 15 and indicated an interest in the Medicine GAP, you will be reviewed for it. Students who are eligible to apply for the program are notified by early January, the invitation letter will have a deadline for you to submit your GAP supplemental materials. This does not have to be done before November 15 - you just need to submit the application for admission before that deadline.
A more detailed timeline on the whole process can be found under FAQs on this page: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/guaranteed-admissions-programs/medicine-gap/
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
After 3 months to the day my son submitted his app, we finally got the buttons!!! Definitely a long wait but I am relieved. He doesnât know yet because he canât access the portal, so we wait for him to find out via email!!! Thank you @hailtopitt1787 and the office staff for all of their work (especially when dealing with our numerous phone calls/emails) Pitt was his first and only choice, both my husbands and my alma mater and we are so happy heâs finally going to be able to say "Hail to Pitt!!!
@bsms2018 âoh I donât have a dog in this fight! My daughter is a freshman at Pitt right now. I kind of hang around just for fun
However, Iâm pretty sure (just from observing last year) it doesnât matter if you selected medical GAP or not. The selection committee will invite you if they want and if not, you are offered another GAP. Itâs unlikely that they made a mistake and offered a different GAP.
I donât know how long the offers to apply to Medical GAP go on though so there may be hope yet. Take heart! It looks like the invites to apply are rolling and go out until January? One of the students from our board last year (35 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA and national academic awards) was not invited to Pittâs Medical GAP or given a Chancellorâs invite. I believe he was offered a $15K per year merit scholarship.
He was, however, awarded a full tuition scholarship to Vanderbilt where he is happily attending!
Also before the rumor even gets started, it is a total myth that Chancellorâs interviewees get bumped up to a full tuition scholarship even if they are not awarded the Chancellorâs scholarship. Every year that gets pulled out of the archives and itâs just NOT true.
@Hopetobeapittmom , congrats! Youâll have to change your screen name now to Iamapittmom !!!
Recieved an email confirmation from the admissions rep we have been in contact with that DD will be invited to apply for the med GAP! But no official email yet. Wheels are turning! Hard to wait!
âSo for people in this mobile app accept/decline button dilemma: I went to the Pitt Passport online (not the Mobile App, the actual website!) and because the buttons donât show up there, I searched âAccept Admissionsâ in the search bar, and a link came up that said Accept Admission, I clicked on it, and it was the same box that shows up when you click Application Status under Student Center, but there was a message above it that said âwe are pleased to offer you admission to the following programsâŠâ and then at the end of the box there is the accept/decline button. Has anyone else discovered this? If your in the same boat as me (got the buttons, no email or letter) try this out and see what it says.â
I just tried this and I got a page with accept/decline. DD hasnât gotten her email, so keeping my mouth shut until she does. Fingers crossed!!!
