@CValle --again, just my annoying self from last year but last year there was zero electronic notification, alert, hint or anything. It’s all paper.
The actual scholarship itself didn’t show up in the Pitt Pay portal until the summer before school started.
The invitation to be a finalist for the Chancellor’s scholarship is all electronic. You get the invitation to apply on the snail mail letter notification but then if you continue on as a finalist and are invited to interview, all of the notifications are electronic/email.
Congratulations!! to all who received scholarships, good luck and hope for the nest for those waiting to get scholarships.
The scholarship letter we received is tri-folded letter in regular envelope. no electronic communication prior/after the scholarship mail. it does not mention any other possible future scholarship awards or consideration for any other scholarships nor Chancellor’s nomination. This year’s scholarship awards seems to differ from previous years in that; 20k-25k seems to be more in number at this point (full ride for in state V 25k for OOS) than last year.
In our case, we are happy with 25K scholarship but, come April it already looks like a tough decision (of course depending on NMF status for daughter, she is NMSF, 1540 SAT in one sitting and no plans to retake)
University of Alabama – Full tuition for NMF, applied and accepted in September
University of Minnesota Twin Cities – Accepted on 10/21…NMF 10K scholarship; making COA close to U Pitt COA
Few combined BA (BS)/MD programs – may be not many scholarships but not comparing combined programs to undergrad programs.
Applying at various private colleges, and of course hoping for some scholarships there too.
Hopefully April will not be as stressful as applying to all the colleges.
@thishappens Huge congratulations to your D Very excited for her and she has some truly incredible options there, will most definitely be tough come decision day. May I ask what day you received the letter? Thanks again!
Thanks @thishappens Helps me to not stress until end of the week haha. I honestly doubt she’ll hear again this week…but hopefully by Thanksgiving :). Congrats again!!!
I checked the site that CValle mentioned (Thank you!) and I found the buttons last Friday. But I still haven’t gotten an admission email. I submitted my app 10/20 and I see people who submitted it the same day getting stuff back. ;-; Hopefully the buttons aren’t false hope for me.
So I submitted my application and all materials on 10/24, and my buttons have changed - not sure when because I just learned of their existence, but they are changed now. Am I supposed to hit accept? Or is that the button to enroll?
I applied 10/19 and completed my application 10/24… I still haven’t received any emails or any changes, and people who’ve applied later than me already have? I’m worried, does this mean i’m rejected?
@AmyBeth68 and others waiting for either admission or scholarship, I am amazed at the speed of U Pitt process (so is my daughter). In a month and half’s time, admission completed, GAP invite came out and application is submitted, and scholarship awarded.
Other programs we applied to, at some of them it was lot of struggle and communication to get application processed (one in-state university did not even knew we paid application fee, took lot of phone calls and email exchanges for them to update portal, taking about 2 months time to get everything sorted).
I would encourage to be patient and consider applying to other universities/colleges while waiting (I understand this is easier said than done) as diversion and constructive utilization of energy and time. Also, at this point 1st semester ends in about months time, focusing on finals is another option.
my 2 cents as parent.
@thishappens yes you are so right, patience is a virtue. My daughter was accepted on 9/13 and a week later got her guaranteed grad school letter and honors letter. So now it’s just the long wait for merit… And as her stats are lower than those already granted merit my assumption is a lot is based on those scores. She’s a 34 ACT and 4.0 uw/4.55 w. She was accepted at her second top 3 university on Friday and waiting on a few more… Most will be December. Fortunately all her apps were in by end of September lol. Which is both wonderful and excruciating for the waiting haha! I have to agree that Pitt is very organized and speedy. They are also far easier to communicate with related to some others we’re dealing with. I’m very impressed with the communication.
