Hey guys! I’m a current freshman nursing major and absolutely love UPitt. I’d really like to transfer there for spring admission as a nursing major but it’s a very esteemed program. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some insight on my chances? A little background:
- I applied as a freshman (I had a 3.5 in high school with honors and AP credits and an 1850 SAT) and got into the program, but on the Bradford Campus
- Currently in college, I have a 4.0 (I expect that to drop to roughly to a 3.8 by winter break though given that we've only taken 1 exam per class) and am participating in a nursing club along with the outdoors club, intramural volleyball and soccer, and also a volunteer club. I also have 19 credits.
- The requirements for transfers into the nursing program are 3.5 GPA minimum and 24 credits. I talked with someone from admissions and they said that my having only 19 credits wouldn't greatly affect my application, but they would weigh my high school transcript more so than if I had the 24 credits. They also said there were very limited spots, especially for spring admission. Ultimately, they concluded, "Try your best in every class and apply. Anything could happen!"
If anyone has any information on how I could improve my application or if they know roughly the average accepted GPA for external transfers for nursing - or anything in general honestly - I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!
