University of Pittsburgh vs. University of Oregon?

My S seems to have narrowed ihis list down to Pitt and Oregon. Both good business programs, both on the smaller side of large publics, both with great sports teams and school spirit. He’s seeming to be swayed by Pitt having somewhat more prestige, but as a California boy is concerned about weather. Likes the Oregon climate.

Anyone feel like weighing in on the merits or drawbacks of these two worthy school?

Bump

Pitt is significantly more prestigious than Oregon. Pittsburgh is a really great town with Pitt, Carnegie Mellon and Duquesne in town. Really nice people . Pro sports are good obviously with the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Really has everything NY and Boston has but much cheaper. The student population is listed as 95,000.

Your son will be fine with the weather. He just needs the right foot wear and clothes. Everyone I know from the West complains more that it is too warm indoors.

It is also quite attractive being surrounded by the three rivers.

Thanks, @OnTheBubble . I think Admitted Students Day at Pitt today sealed the deal. Very impressive business program, beautiful buildings, and the nicest people. Hail Pitt.

Look on College Nice under Uni of Piit, the reviews of the city.

Pittsburgh is a nice city, but let’s be clear, it does NOT offer everything NY does, not even close.

@kollegeguy But MUCH MUCH better than what Eugene can offer lol

But yeah UofO is known as a party school here on the west coast. People only like it for sports, not academics. UPitt is a legit research school. Besides, UPitt has the connection to other east coast cities, whereas Eugene has… Portland??? It’s a joke.

Pitt is a good school, but you should know Pittsburgh is more of a mid-west city than an " east coast" city.

Thanks all. He committed to Pitt. Now just need his twin sister to decide where she’ll be going.
