University of Redlands

<p>Tell me please what you know about the air quality. I have heard smog is an issue mostly in July and August but want to get an idea how unhealthy the air would be during the school year for a sporty kid who is a mild asthmatic.</p>

<p>historymom-- Pomona & the Claremonts, which are not too far away (west of Redlands), have the same issue. Pomona's board has several threads on the topic:

<p>It used to be a major problem. As you can see from this graph, it's gotten a lot better. Overall just slightly worse than where I live in NC, where no one complains of smog. <a href="http://www.aqmd.gov/smog/o3hist-trend.pdf%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://www.aqmd.gov/smog/o3hist-trend.pdf&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>Thanks. My husband who hasn't been in that part of the state in over 20 years had a gut-level reaction of "No Way!" regarding Redlands. (He didn't say this to our DDs, just to me) His memories are of thick brown air and stifling heat. Good to know that has changed. We will be visiting in July so we may catch it at its worse. I guess that's a good thing.</p>
