University of Richmond v. Smith College

Well, the first round of decision have come around. The deadline for most is May 1st, and I'm trying to decide between Smith or the University of Richmond. They're both awesome schools, but they're both not my first choice. Neither of them have sent me a finaid package yet, but I need to put a deposit on one of them just in case I don't get into my top choices. Which do you think is better?

if you don’t mind going to women’s college, i would say SMITH!

Smith would be my first choice.

BUT if there is a significant difference in financial aid, OR UofR has a specific program that is not offered at Smith, my advice would change.

Yeah, I’m thinking Smith as well, but I really gotta wait to see the Finaid packages.

occ, i lived in richmond for 6 months. based on that I would say smith.

lol. What’s wrong with Richmond, JGee?

The Us are ok… but seriously it is a dilapidated town. But hey, i was thinking… in cali it reminds me of the ghetto part of berkeley… yes there are rich areas but YUCK its like 1 street and its so yuck. My car was towed there after just parking it for 20 minutes in a store parking lot, the ppl are so GROSS. And the mall there is REALLY gorgeous but totally not for the ppl there. It mUST be for D.C.ers =)

So…both schools are still reviewing my financial aid. There’s no way I’m going to find out from both before May 1st.

Since they are both reviewing your financial aid, you need to ask each of them how soon they will be able to give you a decision. Then, you need to ask politely for an extension on the date by which you have to give them a Yes/No. They will understand, because lots of folks have to ask for that due to the money issue.
