University of Rochester Class of 2009!

hey mom0809, thanks very much for your info. I have a couple quick question, what does your son think about the whether over at UR? Any tips once it gets close to May/August, moving in, orientation, etc? How about freshman year, any things for us to watch out for, things you guys would do over again if you had the chance? Thank you very much for your support.

wow, i mean weather, not whether..sorry for the typo.

The weather in Rochester is a lot like this: ;-)

http://www.usatoday.com/weather/CityForecast.aspx?LocationID=USNY1232&ps=L1

i just got accepted!! i'm from MA..anyone else from out of NY?

How did you get accepted already?

Welcome!

Khan T1m....the weather is tolerable. We're from Florida and the Caribbean, so Rochester weather is alien to him. He's experienced winters before, but nothing like this! He's looking forward to coming home for spring break...says it's too "white."
As for moving in...all I have is praise for the moving in process. I won't go into too much detail as it will just spoil it all for you hahaha. It's a breeze, to put it mildly..
Best tip is to report to school early on 'moving in day'...If you happen to be in Rochester from the day b4, or even a few days b4, you can actually get your school ID early, and also check in at the bank by the post office (Chase) and open your accounts, etc. It takes a lot of stress out of moving in day and there are "no lines, no waiting." Also, if you buy stuff for your room online, you can pick up it from the post office b4 moving in day as well. DON'T take too much stuff...the rooms have a lot of storage space, but remember you have to share with someone else!
Also, go with the micro fridges that are available to students (I think you get info in your acceptance packages or some time during the summer).
UR is a great school, teachers so far have been wonderful....I think that you all are going to have a great 4 (or 5 for those of you who opt for the 'take 5') years there, and you should all be proud to be attending such a fine institution!

hi tristan, my name's erica and i'll be a brain and cognitive sciences major

and thanks, i did check out the website!

Erica, do you have private messaging disabled?

sweet, i may do Brain and Cog Science, or BME, something to help with the whole PREMED...Im not sure what major is best, probably i will wait until sophomore year to decide my major.

Hey Erica...my name's Shoshana...i wish thinking about doing brain and cognitive scienes major too..or double majoring in that and psych..whats your screen name..so we can talk!

Has everyone made their e-mails for next year and signed up at the new site?

for you guys that got accepted, what were your stats??

gpa, sat scores, etc.. ?

yeah - our scores and stats are in the previous page in reply to archdelux, if you have any questions feel free to im me or whatnot...i can put you in contact with some UR kids too.

hey guys...i tried to make my e-mail for next year but it said i needed my student ID number..when did Rochester send you your student id?

I got my student ID when I received a letter after sending my PART 1 application in. It was smack dab in the middle, it said Student ID: (eight digit code), in lieu of my Social Security Number.

any more ur kids?

Hey guys.

Congratulations on your acceptance to UR! I was very involved in campus: worked at admissions, Off Broadway on Campus, College Republicans, etc. I was a psychology major and am currently attending grad school at U of R for community counseling, and then hopefully medical school. Feel free to ask me any questions here or via AIM. My screen name is DrTrek1.

-Jonathan

Congratulations! My name is Anurag, I am a biomedical engineering student going into his senior year. However, I am doing a co-op at Kensey Nash Corp as a biomaterials research co-op, so I won't be at school till the spring semester.

I am very involved in school as I am the co-founder of the club volleyball team, which currently is the best DII and 2nd best DI club team in NYS. In addition, I am the newsletter chairman for the Biomedical Engineering Society and I worked for residence life in the Quad Office during service desk hours and I have worked in numerous labs in the medical center.

My aim is themachine8, if you have any questions fire away!
