Daughter got her email just a bit ago. Received 14k each year.
Son just received the same email. 18k per year.
I just got that same email! I got the Rush Rhees scholarship (23k a year) plus another 2k a year for being a National Merit finalist. (I applied over Thanksgiving and got my decision about a week ago, if anyone’s curious)
@smurphy17 congrats! Did you have to apply for the Rush Rhees scholarship?
Thanks! And nope, I must have been automatically considered for it based on my application! @ReeshadR
After seeing all of your replies, I feel like aid should be coming in soon. However, the only aid I received is the merit aid from the Dean’s Scholarship of $12,000 (which covers a small portion of Rochester’s total cost of around $63,000). Any remarks on need-based aid and if they are considerable?
@smurphy17 do you need to designate Rochester as your first choice? My son is also an NMF, but he did not receive anything for that.
@Happy001 Yep, I designated Rochester as my first choice on the NM application.
Any renaissance or global finalists here?
Son finally got financial aid package today. Surprisingly generous. On top of $18k/yr deans scholarship, nearly $5k in grants, then more in combination of work study and subsidized loan. Obviously doesn’t bring it down to SUNY with full tuition, which he’s got from both Stony Brook and Binghamton, but put Rochester in the ballpark for us. Wasn’t expecting the grants as I thought our income would disqualify us. Pleasantly surprised.
Can anyone who has gotten their package comment on whether they received any merit aid without having first been notified by email about it? We’re still waiting on an aid package here. Based on the EFC from the Financial Aid calculator, we will definitely get a package (our EFC comes in under $30,000). How did people’s packages compare to the EFC that the calculator suggests? I know that we will hopefully have answers to all of these questions soon, but I’m really antsy for my son to either be able to start picturing himself at Rochester, which was his top choice, or to start shifting gears and exploring his other options.
Hello all! Merit aid decisions should be sent a few days after the admissions letter. We aim to get need-based financial aid packages out to students within about 7-10 business days of receiving their admissions decision. If you ever have questions or concerns about delays, please contact our office by phone or email! We’re here- and we’re happy- to help!
Just got faonline email. Are dean scholarships already included in the total grants and scholarship?
Just checked all the tabs, and found that it was broke up into separate parts in a different tab. My bad!
Hoping to get the same email ASAP
FAFSA EFC= 23k
ROCHESTER EFC= 78k
I have no idea how this has happened. I’m getting 0 dollars in financial aid. I’m expected to pay 56 thousand dollars a year. I don’t even know how to feel about this.
Oy! That’s awful, and really discouraging. @gminor, how does the $78K figure compare to the number that comes back on the URochester net price calculator?
@TwoMuchMoney I don’t know. I didn’t do it and I’m not going back and doing it now that I know how much this place would cost. I’ll think I’ll just cry or something else instead.
Best of luck to everyone else.
STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY FA PACKAGE ugh
Fafsa EFC 33750
