Hi
i was planning on goin to case
but i just got accepted from rochester (i was on waitlisted)
im going to major in biology (premed)
i know both case and rochester are very well known for their med school and science programs
Can anyone give some suggestions?????

I want to hear this too. I have decided to go to Rochester but up until now Case is still in my head… I cant get it off!

I’d also love to hear comparisons. My son is at Case now, my daughter is interested in both.

They seem very similar in many ways. Similar size, locations, weather (ok, weather is probably worse at Rochester). I think I liked the Rochester campus better–doesn’t have a busy street running through the middle of it. I’m not sure about the housing situation at Rochester.

Where do you live? Is one easier to get to? (Southwest to Cleveland, AirTran to Rochester). I noticed that Case isn’t all that well known on the east coast.

Is there a cost difference for you? Saving money for med school is a plus.

If you haven’t visited them yet, VISIT!

I was thinking of doing the same at rochester (less than 2 days to go and no definite decision yet rofl…). I have no idea about the other school. I’m a little scared of the “competition” at rochester but I guess there would be some of that at any school really. From the looks of it, rochester gives a great premed education if you work hard. A medical center nearby to get experience to boot, and more research opportunities than you could possibly imagine.

Hey everyone, I am a freshman at the U of R, and was in the same situation as you a year ago - deciding between Case Western and the U of R among other schools.

Choosing between the two is pretty difficult since they’re very similar schools. Their science/pre-med/engineering programs are really good, but Rochester has the upper hand in music, social sciences (especially economics and political science), cognitive science, physics, and optics.

If you are thinking about medical school, I would say go to the school that gives you the most financial aid in scholarships and grants, if the difference between the two schools’ aid packages is significant. Also factor in your impressions if you visited the schools.

@ 1 Sky Pilot, don’t worry about competition at Rochester. People here work hard and are really motivated, but I have never seen nor heard of any cutthroat competition between students here. In general, I found people here to be helpful and cooperative.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the U of R (academics, social life, etc.)
