@sungjong Sorry I didnt mean to come off as rude. I just thought it was an absurd idea to consider any school ranked in the top 40 as a safety school. What schools have you been accepted to so far?
Moderator’s Note
Keep it civil. Now that results are out everyone should take a deep breath.
Thanks. Best wishes to all regardless of where everyone ends up. Our planet needs every one of you at your best and there’s no single path that will help you reach it. My three boys chose three different colleges and all are working out well for them.
I see kids from the high school where I work go to oodles of different colleges and whether life works out well for them or not (as far as college is concerned) is often based upon what they put into it coupled with their tact and people-skills.
Again, best wishes to all.
My portal isn’t showing a decision at all?!
@Amtari the decision is shown as a pop up in pdf format. Are you sure you have adobe reader or any pdf reader installed in the device you are using to check your decision?
Got accepted like 2 days ago, and im wondering when Ill get my financial aid. I submitted Fafsa and CSS, is there anything else for rochester?
@Sherylock Financial aid packages are sent out 7-10 days after a letter of acceptance.
Is it true that their avg aid is like $40K ?? I applied need-based aid…buuuuut idk if they actually do the job of meeting ppl’s needs…i guess ill just have to wait
Hi @sherylock, my son was awarded a total of $29,600 which includes both his Prince Street Scholarship and Grant Aid. They did meet our Estimated Family Contribution, but since U of R calculates their own EFC with their own formula, that was about $2,000 more than our FAFSA EFC. Hope you get what you need.
Hey guys! how many of you still haven’t heard about your financial aid? I am still waiting and I got my acceptance on the 26th.
@imansoor14 I live in MX and I am still waiting since my acceptance on the 29th.
Does anybody know if the financial aid is mailed through DHL, UPS, or other service?
@GilgameshRex I believe it’s emailed
FA was terrible! Expected family contribution was ridiculously high! Still way too expensive for me despite merit scholarship. Will withdraw acceptance.
@RedYellowBlue I’m sorry, but can I ask you how much is the difference between the expected family contribution stated on your FAFSA (CSS) and the amount they calculated? Thanks!
@RedYellowBlue sorry to hear about your FA, but when did you get the email telling you about your FA?
where would i find my student id number??
@zekosadieurokrem It was about $50K difference!!!
@imansoor14 Got an email about 5-6 days after acceptance to check the FA portal.
The amount of merit aid they give depends on your stats. They are not secret about it. On the financial aid page, there is a section with a calculator. However, they were a little short on what we were expecting. We probably would not have applied here had we known that we’d go through this whole process and then kind of disappointed in the end.
Did they ask you any questions before determining the aid they are willing to provide?
