University of Rochester vs. Brandeis vs. Fordham vs. St. John's vs. RIT vs. UC Davis

Hey all. I have narrowed down my choices to these 6 colleges. My major is Political Science, however I will be on a pre-med track. Ultimately, I want to go to medical school. When it comes to financial aid, I will be taking Private student loans out if I have to. I have outside scholarships helping me as well.

University of Rochester: I can see myself going there. I love the atmosphere and the town of Rochester is not bad, in my opinion. One of the top colleges in the nation, excellent academics, especially pre-med and Poli sci. Lots of research/ internship opportunities and many student organizations. Medical Center on campus. Love the campus I will be happy if I go here. They are offering me $42,000 in Financial aid (FAFSA and scholarship/Grant included). Currently my top choice.

Brandeis: I was accepted as a Mid-Year student. Beautiful campus, academics are pretty good. I heard Pre-med is pretty good along with Poli sci. I like that it’s near a big city (Boston). I don’t know if I will fit in though, considering it is predominantly Jewish and I am Catholic. Honestly, I would not mind going there. I have not heard about Financial aid though and I will call tomorrow. I think I probably won’t get much because I submitted FAFSA passed their deadline.

Fordham: I was accepted to the Rose Hill campus. I love the fact that it’s in NYC. I love the campus and I know I will be a good fit to the uni. Really good pre-med program; I heard of many graduates going to top medical schools. Heard their Political Science is formidable. I like that it’s a Jesuit school. Student organizations are pretty good. The only downside is that they’re giving me only $25,200 in Financial aid (FAFSA + Scholarship+Grant) and their price tag is around $69,000.

St.John’s: I was accepted to their honor’s college. Love that it’s in NYC. Small Catholic college. Great school but not as reputable as the others. Good academics. I know that I will like it here. Student organizations are good/ Great Community. $34,500 in Financial aid (FAFSA+Grant+Scholarship) (Price tag is $55,850). I don’t know if this is the school for me though; I don’t know if I’ll truly be happy there.

RIT: I don’t know if I’ll be happy there. I have a friend that goes there. I would honestly choose U or R over RIT. RIT’s Political Science program is interesting. They have an option in which I can study Politics regarding the life sciences and I know I will be fascinated with that. Pre-med isn’t the strongest at the school. There are a lot more guys than girls here, which I don’t mind. Don’t quite remember the actual numbers, but I know they’re not giving me much aid.

University of California, Davis: Cheapest option. Offering a full ride in Financial aid (FAFSA and Grants). Some of my friends are going to go there. Closest to my home (I can drive there). Great academics- Pre-med is very strong, and Political Science is pretty good here as well. However, I don’t really want to go to a public university. Class sizes are huge. Town of Davis is pretty small and rural, so there is nothing much to do, except probably a trip to San Francisco every once in a while. I have a lot of family in the Sacramento area so I’m pretty close to them. I don’t know if this is a good fit for me though, considering it is a small town and the large class sizes. I want to get to know my professors. Medical Center on Campus.

I need help deciding where to go. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you’ve already decided with sound reasons. Is there any reason you want to be convinced otherwise? Every school you mentioned is a worthy school for Pre-med. Pick the best fit for you, finances included.

Trump went to Fordham haha
