University of San Diego 2023

I got in with 31 ACT, 3.85 UW GPA. Took 12 APs and had lots of EC’s with leadership. Mail came today w/ acceptance and Presidential Scholarship at 18k/year.

Did the website ever show your status change to accepted? what state are you in?

@kkmtx I found out when my status changed to Committee Review. I live in southern CA. I got my letter today and my portal is totally different because it shows accepted students stuff.

@kkmtx, Congratulations! What does the letter look like? I hear that the rejections are small thin envelopes and the acceptances are larger? Thx.

@KidWithQs5436 I think you’re checking your University of California San Diego portal, this thread is for University of San Diego. I made the same mistake and was freaking out, but then realized I was looking at the wrong portal.

all my friends are getting accepted everyday and I haven’t heard anything yet. I am pretty positive I will get in but this waiting sucks!!!1

@FortniteBR same, i’m really confident that i’ll get in it’s just a waiting game. i wonder if theyre gonna send more out tomorrow or tuesday, i just really want to hear back

@FortniteBR @punky1625 I am confident too! I absolutely love the place and I hope we all get in. So good luck and we will see what happens this week

My portal has been on committee review for the past week and a half, if not longer. Did anyone else’s portal remain on committee review that long before getting a decision?

I was recently admitted to U of SD and I cant find any information about merit aid in the portal? Does anyone know where this information would be located if I did in fact recieve merit?

@ColoDCaliBound did you receive merit notification? If so, was it by mail or portal and how much. Thank you.

1520 SAT, 3.94 unweighted GPA (my weighted would be around 4.4 the way most schools do it) with 13 APs and no merit based aid… wtaf… I guess I know where I’m not going.

@donaldspanky1 31 ACT, 4.4, 14 AP, and lots and lots of EC and community service. She got $0.0. Her friend with lower test scores and gpa got $21,000. Super frustrated.

Merit letter arrived in U.S. mail today in Florida.

Received merit in the mail today. President’s scholarship $18,000 annual. 3.95 UW, 4.1ish W 1370 SAT. Honestly, I’m pretty shocked after reading other posts/stats. I wonder if being OOS makes a difference?

@sirmixalot Hang in there. College acceptances sometimes don’t seem to make sense. We faced something similar last year with a different university - knew friends who got in with lesser grades and ACT scores but were baffled when my student was rejected when her scores fell into the typical range for admits. I do know that last year’s admitted class at USD had the highest GPA in history (3.91 I think) and they had so many freshman that accepted that some were placed in what is normally sophomore apartment housing. My guess is that more and more kids are accepting offers there as well as other privates in CA as the UCs become a real crapshoot for CA residents to get into with the OOS and international admits, surges in applications, etc. Perhaps there is less merit aid to go around this year because of last year.

wow… it seems completely random who gets aid and who doesn’t… I’m sure both she and I will receive pretty solid money from other schools at least.

I doubt it, because I was OOS w/ 1520 and a 3.94 UW with 14 APs and didn’t get anything. I also have friends in CA with numbers lower than yours or mine who got money.

My D applied to USD but after further research lost interest. Did we overlook something? Is USD one of ur top 3 choices and what makes it so appealing to you? anyone?

@StacysMom24 It is small but not too small. Not difficult to get classes like the larger public institutions. Nice class size, engaging professors, LLCs for freshmen. Is #1 in the nation for study abroad - comprehensive and the merit aid applies to overseas study too. Great vibe. Beautiful campus. Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. Just a few reasons.
