pepperdine, gonzaga,
My D applied to a variety of schools: Cal Poly, SDSU, Drexel, Manhattan College, Ohio Wesleyan, Vermont, Western Washington, Denver and Point Loma. Just USD and Cal Poly are awaiting a decision.
She considered applying to Occidental but thought merit aid was a real long shot. Did not apply to UCās as $65k a year would present a gigantic hardship and I am adamant on no loans.
She got into everywhere else ,with a few large scholarships, other than Vermont and Point Loma which were surprise deferrals. They were both strange because on paper they were easier to get into than some of the others plus we were expecting merit.
USD would be a nice option if the come thru with merit.
@StacysMom24
Are you the one from the song? Ha ha.
I applied to Pepperdine, Whittier, 5 UCs, USD, USC, CMC, and a bunch of out of state schools.
@lincolnmarkv
Have you heard back from any of those schools?
Good luck!
@JBSeattle Yes from Pepperdine, Whittier, URichmond, Baylor
Donāt know the rest yet.
@lincolnmarkv
Hopefully you have had some admittances and this will be another one!
Has anyone sent in their mid term grades?
yes. common ap reminds counselor to do automatically
Thanks @StacysMom24. Iām not holding my breath for the school counselor. We looked on the website and couldnāt really find info on it so my d went ahead and did it through parchment just to be sure. The end of March canāt come soon enough :-SS :-w
@letsshare decisions come out mid February
Thanks @FortniteBR, but arenāt those just for the students that get in with a scholarship? I read on last yearās page that they came out in waves, but not sure when kids with no merit get notified. I thought March, but I hope you are right since it will shorten the wait.
Did anyone do an interview? My D thought herās went well but unsure if that means much.
@JBSeattle, I didnāt know that was a thing. Did your D go down to SD for it or was it local to your area?
Iām glad it went well
I think interviews regardless of how they go are great practice for them.
How did your D manage to get an interview? did she sign up for one or did USD ask for it?
I think both to the best of my recollection. We are in Seattle though so that may be part of the reason.
The interview was here in Seattle. I think she came up to interview the Seattle applicants.
My daughter and several classmates all interviewed here in our town with the admissions director for this area.
Can you tell me what GPA has to be maintained in order to renew their merit scholarships each year? That information is not on their website
@hkamy21 what state are you located? Did they reach out to you or is it something that the students sign up for?
