Hey guy, I just got admission letters from USF and USD and I'm applying as a psychology major. I'm completely confused on what uni I should go for? My main focus is their psychology department. I've looked around the web to find any rankings or whatever but have had no luck. I need some help on figuring out which one has an edge over the other in respect to just psychology! tuition, city life, weather etc don't matter to me at all! So any help or info would be much appreciated!

Thank you all in advance! :)

Just by doing a quick search on College Board, it seems that they are very similar schools, but the University of San Diego is much more selective (lower acceptance rate, higher median SAT/ACT scores). I would go with San Diego.

Honestly between the two rankings won’t matter a lot, neither of them are prestigious enough to where it would be a boost and they are both very similar. You should visit San Francisco and San Diego and figure out where you could see yourself living as they are pretty different.

Chargo is right about checking on the “feel” of the campus given their similarities. Took my son to visit USF last summer. USF is right in the city and buses run through campus and can take you to others parts of SF. Also, the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood is three blocks from campus. Some of the dorms have stunning views of the city. But squashgirl may be onto something in terms of SD being more selective, so you should try to visit and talk to students at both places. Or see if the admissions office can put you in touch with psychology majors so you can learn about their experiences.

Neither school has any academic ranking. Flip a coin.

Hmm… Yea I like squashgirls point. I know there isn’t any vast difference between the two. Only thing to kill this tie breaker is if I get an acceptance letter from USC in the coming weeks. But its really competitive so got to pick between the two here in case that doesn’t happen. Anyway thanks for the insight people :)
