Hello! This is for anyone who was wait listed at Scranton this year, so you guys can post stats for future applicants and help each other out along the wait list process if you are still interested in going to Scranton. Please post the school you applied to, your academic stats, extracurricular info and basic information. Good luck!
For future Nursing Majors:
D was deferred from early action for Nursing with the following stats 12/14: SAT: 550 CR;M 570 WR 540. ACT 24. OOS. She was offered to schedule an interview from 1/4-3/15 interview since they had over 900 applicants for 75 spots approx… Although she had option to do interview over the phone, D opted to go in person on 2/11 for roughly 15 min interview plus 5 minutes together with parent for any questions, etc. Was asked at at interview if D would consider changing to a different major. D said yes but indicated nursing first choice. D was told her grades were fine etc.
Received change of status portal notification email again on 4/4 with follow up letter to say she was not being offered a spot but could submit form with alternate major consideration such as "Community Health Education major " but since Scranton is Direct Entry there is no possibility of transferring later into Nursing Program. D decided to stay on Nursing Wait List.
End of the road came 5/11 with another email portal status update notification, all spots filled for the Class of 2020.
D sent continued interest letter(s), Scranton top choice & follow up materials requested on medical internship to admissions/admission counselor/interviewer who told her to “Keep Optimistic”. At interview was led to believe that by coming in person would count favorably. Honestly did not see the possibility of rejection coming until April. Luckily D applied to a variety of schools & had acceptances at equal caliber as well as some better ranked programs to choose from.
