Does anyone know when invitations to the Top Scholars weekend are expected to go out? It looks like in years past these were sent around the end of January. I don’t know that my S has the stats, but I’d love to hear from anyone who gets an invite- (mostly so I know when to stop checking the mailbox! Lol!) We already are on mailbox alert for national merit notification
Thank you!
In the past, notification has been delivered via Fed Ex usually the last Friday/Saturday of the month. Some may get notification later, if students decline the invite. There are only a few days to RSVP to attend.
NMF stats would seem promising, no?
If I have a 1550 SAT and 4.5 weighted GPA, do you think I have a shot? I believe the average is slightly above my stats…
@lesjubilants I can’t say for sure on the stats, but I tweeted admissions yesterday and they said Top Scholars invitations will be sent out at the end of the month, and final scholarship details are sent out in mid-March. Good luck!
If past years are any indication, they will either be sent out this Friday/Saturday or the next week. We are anxiously awaiting them too. We have a daughter currently a Junior in the Honor’s College (Cooper Scholar) and my current senior has already been admitted for next year as well. Hopefully her stats and achievements are enough to get an invite. She has a 35 ACT and a 5.0 GPA (recalculated for USC standards). Would love to have the FedEx man drop off an invite at our house.
@hopewhite25, is your dau. happy in the HC? It has been hard to get feedback from students. (I have a freshman in Capstone who is very happy).
@VAMom23 She is very pleased with the experience so far. She loved living in the dorm freshman year and the sense of community. Because of the priority registration, she has never had an issue getting into classes that she wants. She has had multiple classes with less than 10 students in them as well. She has changed her school once (from Arts and Sciences to Business), and her major multiple times and she is still on track to graduate on time with a double major in Finance and Accounting. Having the extra advisor has really been beneficial. This semester she will be getting started on her thesis that is required for an Honor’s College graduate and so far it is going smoothly. I will say that the extra fees associated with being in the Honor’s College, as well as Darla Moore, really do add up, but other than that, no complaints.
^^^^ Thank you! We were shocked by the extra fees (OOS is really high) associated with Arnold School of Public Health and Capstone too.
My daughter heard that a girl OOS received hers today.
My son’s friend (in-state) said that he received his invitation today as well. Good luck all!
ProudSCMom- wow! Thank you for posting! So early! Congratulations to your son’s friend!
I got it!!! OOS, received the package after school. Seems like I was worrying about my stats yesterday for nothing.
@lesjubilants WooHoo! Congratulations
What part of south carolina is your son’s friend from? @ProudSCMom
@lesjubilants what were your stats? oh …ignore. Congrats!!
@lesjubilants what state are you from? Was it an overnight letter?
Was it a packet?
@KirinW @anxioussenior18 New Jersey, FedEx overnight mail. I’ve heard that there are mailing delays in NC because of the snow, if that affects either of you.
@qd1999 My son received his invitation tonight as well. It came FedEx Express Standard Overnight. We are in the southern half of the state so there’s no weather issues here. He has until Tuesday, January 23rd, to respond.
