Hey,
I have been offered admissions from all the three universities with a considerable amount scholarship. Now i am having trouble choosing which one i should attend. I am choosing Computer Science as my major and i really want to intern during my study years.
Considering the location of set up and fee structure they all seem reasonable and equally the same with a few pros and con, however they pretty much match each other in one way or the other.
Now, it would be really helpful if anyone could tell me the pros and cons of attending these universities based on the remaining factors such as level of opportunities available in the career aspect such as availability and ease of doing internships, tech companies i can get recruited into, amount of median salary after graduation and how well i would fit into the community as i am an international student. I would also like to know how these universities help students prepare for the entrepreneurial career and to add, I would also like to know about the level of research opportunities available.
Thank You!!
Something you may wish to consider: look at how active the alumni organizations are for each school. Contact them and ask to be put in touch with former graduates. What type of career services and internship programs do each offer? The career services dept will tell you how and the number of internships they assist students in securing. What type of corporations come on their campuses to recruit?
For Illinois Tech you can see the
[Career Fair Employers](Employers List by College | Illinois Institute of Technology) for the past two fairs and for the upcoming ones at the end of the month. They had to split up into two days because the number of employers was too large for the venue.
In general, our graduates do very well at getting internships and jobs. The university is in an urban setting in Chicago and there are lots of employers in the region plus our graduates are well-regarded in engineering firms and tech companies around the country. The other things to consider are that IIT is relatively small (3,000 undergraduates) and is highly STEM oriented.
If you have any more specific questions, I’ll be happy to answer.
