I have a few questions about this - I’ll be contacting the representative for my area soon, but I was hoping there was somebody here who applied that would know the answer to these questions.

On the Teacher/Counselor Report, there’s a section at the top which says ‘Place Barcode Here or Enter USC ID’ - I have no idea what this is or how I can obtain it and I’ve been looking all over the site for any indication of what to do with this. Does anybody know what I should do for this section? (thank you, blackeyedsusan)

(!!) Along with the Counselor/Teacher Report, they say to attach a letter of recommendation (they can be sent separately), so does that mean the letter of recommendation can be in a regular letter format from any teacher I want (say instead of a core subject teacher, I choose my law teacher). Would I just request my teacher to type a recommendation with my school’s logo/header at the top? Or how would I do this? Or am I completely wrong?

Call the Admissions Office. They should have sent you a page of barcode stickers or given you a USC ID to enter. If you haven't already received, call and ask how you can get one.

I don't think my kid got a barcode number. He phoned, and was told he could go ahead and use either his name and birthdate or his social security number; I don't remember which. In any case, nobody held it against him; he's at USC! I second blackeyedsusan's advice to telephone admissions asap.

My advice is to telephone both the admissions office and the office for your major (if it's a major for which you send in a separate application) and make sure that the application is complete in both places. (And if you're applying to RHP or TO, call over there too!) Keep copies of everything. In one office, the pieces of my son's application were in a couple of different file folders, neither of which was marked complete. This was easily remedied, but you have to stay on top of things.
