Hello, I have posted previously and got some helpful feedback, but not really what I was looking for so I figured I would create a new discussion. USC is my dream school, but I have a low GPA compared to their average, and I was wondering if the rest of my application can make up for my GPA. I don’t want to get too deep into details so I’ll try and be brief. My ECs are close to as good as it gets for a student hoping to go into engineering. I’ve been on a variety of teams and had a variety of leadership roles mostly geared towards engineering. A few of the EC’s I do are Robotics, Mock Trial, Boy Scouts, Lockheed Martin Explore Program, the Mile High Flight Program (an aviation and aerospace program), and more. I’m also a student pilot and wrote a really strong essay about my first solo flight. My ACT is a 33 (math 33, science 33, reading 30, English 36). My teacher letters of recommendation and being written by my two favorite teachers both of which I have amazing relationships with (one I went to Africa with on a very selective school trip, and the other is my best friends mother who was my junior year English teacher and helped me make my college essay amazing). I worked pretty hard on the application and think my supplements are really good. I also go to a very renowned and very rigorous high school. I am white and middle class, so I can’t really say that I’ve been through any incredible hardship. I am 4/4 for the schools that I have heard back from, but they all had about 50% acceptance rates or higher. I am also applying to Lehigh and was also wondering if I have a good shot there. So all of the above considered, to I have an alright chance at getting into USC, or is my GPA too low for the rest of my application to make up for? I am applying to Viterbi if it makes a difference. I’m also from Colorado which is not one of their highly represented states which might help.
I forgot to mention this, but I’ve played Varsity tennis all four years.

Can anyone else chance me? I would love a second opinion. On my other post, many people told me it is too much of a reach for me to have any reach chance at the school, but they didn’t seem very knowledgeable and many just said my application would be thrown out as soon as they saw my GPA. So if anyone else can add in on the matter it would be greatly appreciated.
You have great ecs and scores but ur gpa is probably gonna hold u back.
https://about.usc.edu/files/2015/10/USCFreshmanProfile.pdf This is the common data set for usc for 2015/2016, Most of their admitted students come from cali. Also the avg gpa was 3.8 but ur act is very good…so u seem to have and alright chance…just check the data set.
@dynamitesamurai thanks for the post. I’ve seen this data, but as an applicant I struggle with optimism/pessimism when I see it. I look at the GPA and think I have no chance, but then look at the average test scores and feel that there is no way I won’t get in, so having an extra set of eyes look at my situation helps a lot. With whaet I’ve been told, I think I’ve probably got around a 30-50% chance at acceptance, but I honestly have no clue. Thanks either way!
