Does anyone know if UTK admits by school (business) and major (supply chain) or is it just by school? DS is interested in the program but since we are OOS and it’s part of the tuition reciprocity program for our state it may be very saturated. Just wondered how that works. Also, a little concerned because as he went in to start preparing the app, he got a lot of questions about demographics and asking if he is from our region and attends a certain county school public school (which he does). I think they may be inundated with students from our area. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated.
OK - thanks for the clarification. It was just so specific to our metro area out of state that it made me wonder. any ideas on how they admit (by college and major or just college)?
Not sure- I have gained a lot of insight from looking at last year’s EA admissions thread on here- gives an idea of how admissions went for students based on their GPA/Test scores/majors, etc. There were a LOT of surprised deferrals/denials, that is for sure. We are OOS and definitely thinking he will be lucky for an early acceptance but one can hope…
Can someone help me understand the Calculated Self-Reported GPA (found in the GPA&Tests tab on the portal)? Is that a weighted GPA? So much of what I see refers to the UTK Core Weighted GPA, but I don’t know if what is listed here is weighted or not. (My school does not weight GPAs.) Thank you!
Funny my son just looked this up this morning. I am assuming this is the GPA UTK calculates on their own scale based on whatever is reported for core classes in the SRAR. They use their own weighting scale. In my son’s case, their GPA is slightly higher than what his high school GPA is but barely (.05 higher)
They might have- a lot of the schools I am noticing are lowering their awards or even eliminating some of them. I know Alabama has eliminated its NHS full tuition award and replacing it with a more holistic one where they take other things into consideration.
Thank you. When the portal first opened there were three IDs listed: Slate with a number then Student ID and Net ID with no numbers. Now just Slate ID with numbers. I read I. Old posts where the IDs disappeared then reappeared. Not sure why.
My son went into the Vol portal today to check on his status. Under his ‘Just for You’ tab there were two scholarships listed and he was interested in applying to one called the Volunteer Impact Scholarship but it wasn’t there anymore. He’s been checking the portal everyday but has not had the time to sit down and apply. He’s reaching out to Admissions to see what happened but we are curious to see if this has happened to anyone else.
