University of Tennessee Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Last year everyone heard on December 20th.

F24 early action notification?

Was there a separate application for scholarships? If so, we missed it. :grimacing:

Not entirely sure this is true for all of them but I think on common app it was just a box to click expressing interest

S23 applied/accepted. My recollection is that there is a matrix for GPA/SAT that if you fall within certain criteria it automatically awards merit. There are other scholarships for specific programs (Music comes to mind) with their own application process - which might or might not apply to your student.

Itā€™s still there for us. Maybe it was just a glitch?

In my daughterā€™s application section, under just for you, there are some questions about UT SUCCESS ACADEMY. Does anyone know what this is about ? TIA!

Here is a link:Home - UT Success Academy

Thank you. I guess it is sent to all applicants now, but I am unsure if it is something she should complete.

In reading about it, definitely sounds interesting. I keep telling S24 he needs to check his ā€œJust for youā€ tab in his portal- lord only knows what is in thereā€¦

Agree!

OK, automatic merit is what I thought too. Phew. Neither one of us recalled anything about a separate app for UTK scholarships. He applied for Public Policy.

My son applied early action:

  • Nuclear Engineering major
  • 3.87 GPA unweighted; school doesnā€™t weigh GPA or do class rank but all his classes since freshman year have been Honors or AP if available so we are hoping he shows solid rigor in his selections
  • ACT 35
  • Played volleyball (club and HS), was a TA for the AP chem class, held a part time job all four years, environmental club, NHS, karate black belt, but a little light in leadership roles.

He really loved UTK on our visit this summer, but the waiting is so hard. Any other engineering school applicants here?

UTK will recalculate his GPA on their own scale and weight honors/AP according to their own weighting scale. If he logs into his UTK portal he should be able to see the UTK recalculated GPA.

D24 applied early action:

  1. Geology Major/Planetary Science specialization
  2. 3.95 unweighted GPA; IB candidate; National Merit Commended
  3. ACT 34
  4. Cross Country (4 years), Rock Climbing (4 years), SCUBA certified rescue diver, Silver award Girl Scouts, 2 Gold Keys for Art (so far).

We are in state, so UTK is legally obligated to accept her. We toured late this summer. At the time UTK was not on the radar, a contact on this forum was kind enough to put us in touch with the Geology Department, and we had a private tour with the professor in charge of the curriculum for the planetary science specialization. It was informative and a lot of fun. It is a small department and D24 was informed she would be given paid research. Soā€¦I think UTK is in her final two.

We havenā€™t had a chance to visit yet. S24 has been admitted to Bama and Auburn and really likes both. If he gets into UTK we want to get him there so he can see it. It sounds like a great school and a visit would really give him a chance to see what itā€™s like to make an informed decision.

Thank you! Looks like 4.33 based on the SRAR. Great information to have. Heā€™s hoping to be admitted to the University Honors Program as well. Do you have any idea if they announce that along with admission status?

Iā€™m not sure when Honors decisions come out

When my D22 applied, she received her Honors acceptance notification in the portal on the same day her institution acceptance arrived.

After DS submitted the honors application, he got a reply email saying notifications come out mid January.
