Does UT make admissions decisions by major. In other words, if your 1st/2nd choice majors are full will they accept you to the university as undeclared or do they flat out reject you? Also do they list impacted/highly competitive majors somewhere. This is for OOS interested in biology.
I have a question about Dean’s scholar and Health Science Scholar. Do you know if one is easier to get into than the other? Description wise, both programs look very similar. I would really appreciate any info about this.
I think they do…i’m OOS as well…just turned in application…still a reach even with 3.92 UW/35 ACT, McCombs
Dean’s Scholars is the most competitive of the CNS Honors programs. My son is in HSS (class of '22, Biochemistry) if you need any more info about that program.
Just checking for those who have applied already to UT. What does your application status say. My changed to in review and wanted to see if anyone else has as well. I am not an auto admit. I applied on August 2nd. It changed to In Review in the last couple of days.
My daughter’s also changed to in review this weekend. Her app was complete last Wednesday with the addition of her resume. She isn’t auto admit either. Best of luck!
My daughter is auto-admit and it changed to “admitted” today. She applied On Sept 9th. We still get to wait on engineering.
My daughter applied last week and recieved her auto admit acceptance yesterday now waiting on acceptance to major in Biology
Cmarquez, if you don’t mind, what are your daughters statistics? We are wondering what it will take to get into Biology. Thanks
@and2018 My daughter applied in early August and her application has been in review for all of September. I believe they move to review status when they have all of your information complete and on file. Good luck!
@Flea68, do you have any insight on auto-admits and engineering majors? What are the possible outcomes? Do you have to list 2 majors? Or can you list only one?
My daughter’s is interested in Architectural Engineering.
@ildro, ArchE is very competitive since such a small group of kids can be admitted. My dad was an ArchE prof for 52 years. I had him for several classes.
@ildro Unfortunately I don’t have any insight. I wish I did! Yesterday she heard back from TAMU and was admitted into their Engineering program, we are hoping that’s a good sign. I am pretty sure my daughter listed Aerospace as her first and Mechanical as her second.
Back on this board since I have a high school senior planning to apply. I have a class of 2020 engineering student (Electrical & Computer) that was auto accept. For the high school class of 2016, the top 8% got in. He applied pretty much at the deadline and did not hear from the engineering school until February. I imagine it is more competitive now but after reviewing the data for accepted students for my son’s class, generally those accepted (into engineering - may have been specifically ECE) were the top 3% of their class . Architectural Engineering is among the most competitive. Engineering at A & M is an acceptance just into the engineering school and I believe the student later applies for their specific major.
Hi! Im a high school senior OOS. UT is my number one school and I am interested in child psychology. Which is an easier school to get into OOS: college of education or college of liberal arts? my only goal is to get in to UT.
My DD is a freshman at UT Austin, Business major. She applied for 3 honors programs, Plan II, Business Honors and Liberal Arts honors and did not get into any of these, we were disappointed initially. She is currently thriving in school, she got into the Texas Mock trial team which is very competitive and leaving behind a number of honors kids (no offense) and is doing very well in her classes.
There are very spots in honors classes and large number of applicants so it is not really a reflection of the student’s capability, I feel college is largely what you make out of it after you get in…granted getting into UT Austin is highly competitive. We are in fact thankful she has had other opportunities opened up for her with jefferson scholars program and others when the door closed on honors !
nvm
Curious if any auto admits have been notified as to the college they were accepted into yet? My daughter received notification of automatic admission into the university about a month ago but still shows as under review for business. Has anyone heard that they were admitted to McCombs yet?
My son is still in review as well for CNS/CS. I think its going to be a while. the waiting is hard.
Mine is in “Under Review” for a week. Is there any decision (for school / major coming out before Nov. 1?
