University of Texas at Austin Class of 2024 Admissions / Preparation

Congratulations @nomatter!!! I am so happy for you. We are still waiting. My son was auto-admit in September and met the Priority Deadline. Which School was your son admitted to? I know they stated some are earlier than others. . In reviewing threads from previous years, some do start around Thanksgiving and come in waves every 2 weeks. I could not make out which colleges start a bit earlier.

Any CS major admission notifications yet?

How about Cockrell? Did anyone get their admission notification?

Son is auto-admitted but we are waiting on Engineering and Plan II decisions!

Hi All,
DS20, who is not auto-admit, applied within priority deadline of Nov 1 but did not apply for Honors as she was thinking she will probably not get into honors and she has other EA essays to complete that time.

As she is now free I am asking her to apply for Honors for UT as well. Is it possible to apply for Honors now, if so how? or it’s too late to apply for honors?

My son has applied to UT CS. He is finishing his senior year at a school that does not rank (it is in California, although we live in Texas). I may have missed this but how does that factor in?

His stats are good but not overwhelming, he scored a 1520 on SAT, and GPA is 3.75. He’s taken 8 AP classes so far and scored 4’s and 5’s on all and has 3 more his senior year (11 total).
His ECs are minimal but he did only what interested him (Robotics) but he does compete at a national level in eSports, and is ranked top 10% Globally.

He has also built over 10 computers from parts. He did not know how to put this on his essay but simply listed on his resume, but it does a show a deep understanding and interest in CS.

We will be curious if he is accepted, especially since there is not a class rank.
If it matters, I was a graduate of UT-Austin, but I did not see any type of legacy question on the app (A&M did ask about legacy).

@kirkhaven, our daughter also attends an OOS school and we live in TX. When we asked the admissions office this question, we were told that she will be considered a Texas resident for admission and tuition purposes but not auto admit regardless of rank since her school is OOS.
@sibpuri, does an honors tab show on her my status page? If so, it should show which programs she would be able to apply to (at least I think that’s how it works). I don’t think it’s too late to apply to them but have your daughter call admissions and ask. I know my daughter completed her honors essays on the applytx app but in past years honors apps were done once applytx was already turned in to UT.

Congrats !!! (@nomatter) Such a great news for your family! Do you mind share your kid brief stats with us? Thanks!

One more question please. When you submitted the application both for school and honor? Thanks!

My son is auto admitted but waiting on major (CS honors).

Out of the blue son got an email from the executive director of admissions today about school ranking and inviting to find out more about UT. It is the first ever email he received from UT! Does it mean anything? Is his file being reviewed? He has been in review since October.

My son is auto-admit and got admitted to his CNS major yesterday. He received an email asking him to check My status update.

@JonnyF

When did you apply: Applied September (honors app submitted at the same time), admitted September. He submitted the expanded resume.

Class Rank: 9/783
SAT (with Sub Scores): 1490 (EBRW: 760, Math: 730) - Taken twice, this is the only one submitted
ACT (with Sub Scores): N/A
When did you receive your admission decision: September for auto admit. November for major. (awaiting honors decision)
Major/College of Choice: College of Liberal Arts, 1st choice

TX2020UT, if you don’t mind, please share your son’s stats. Thanks

What’s his major within CNS?

Just got a non-auto acceptance! Applied August 3rd, heard back last night (11/21). Government within the college of Liberal Arts. Still waiting to hear back from Plan II. Class rank 33/540, SAT 1530, ACT 34, SAT II Literature 800. With non-auto applicants I really think the most important thing is a speedy application; admissions is not technically rolling, but I do think it plays a role in odds of acceptance (my older siblings both had August applications and November acceptances as well, one auto, one not).

Thanks!!!

@momo Congrats!!! You all settled down (DONE)

@TX2020UT Which major in CNS please? Is it CS? Thanks!!!

@TX2020UT: more questions please. When applied (with Honor)? Share stats please if possible.
