University of Texas at Austin

GPA: around a 3.8 unweighted, 5.38 honors scale, top 6 percent
AP's: World History, US History, Govt, Eco, Calc BC, Chemistry, Physics, Human Geo, Psychology, Art History
Extracurriculars: orchestra 4 years
SAT: not set yet but around 530 critical, 620 writing, 770 math

What are my chances for honors program at mccombs or honors at cockrell for engineering. Still undecided on my major....

Your gpa and rank is good, but your sat score is on the lower side. I would suggest getting really good recs, and writing good essays (especially the essays for the honors applications).

To give you a better idea, I was just out of top 10% of my high school (very competitive school). I had I think a 4.16 weighted. My SAT was (I think) 790 Math, 670 Crit (they didn’t look at writing back then). I would say my ECs were pretty weak (pretty much just debate and a little bit of robotics). I took pretty much every available AP class and exam (4s and 5s on all).

Not sure about mccombs, but you have a good shot at cockrell. Good luck!
