University of Texas--Austin Admissions

@hnef27‌ We are from LI, NY too! Congrats! My S has been waiting for his decision. He applied to Cockrell. Will you matriculate to UT?

@scout07 there’s about a 95% chance I’ll be enrolling! I was deferred to UVA after applying EA, and I’m waiting on UPenn (Wharton) but UPenn seems to be a huge reach and I was rejected by UNC Chapel Hill so I don’t think UVA will take me either. I have a connection to Penn (a friend on the board of the Jay Baker retail program who wrote my letter of rec) but I don’t know how much it’ll save me. Either way, Texas seems to be everything I want in a school!

@frostcause thanks! As in business, it’s all about who you know. I’m sure those have helped my application immensely.

u just got accepted?yhow long ago u apply?

Loganator - we submitted our dorm preferences several months ago. When you log into check your status, do you have a Housing tab? We clicked there and I believe there was a link to “Housing contract” or it said something like “you are now eligible for a housing contract”. I’m not sure doing the preferences any earlier matters though. I believe it is when you paid the $50 or $70 to request housing that “puts you in line”.

Rach98n – there is a Housing tab. My S has not been accepted yet, however, so he is in line after paying the fee. I don’t think assignments are made until the summer, though. His Housing tab says: “If you are admitted and satisfy your enrollment deposit, you will be eligible for a housing contract offer and may enter housing preferences.” The admissions presentations indicated dorm assignments would be made based on when the applicant got in line for housing (by paying the $50 fee), not based on when the applicant was admitted. Not sure what the point is otherwise if they handle it differently!

I know that since I was accepted I am technically eligible for the housing application after I submit the enrollment and housing deposits, but does applying for housing bind me to UT? I want to apply for housing just to make sure I get a good place, but I am still waiting for other decisions and don’t want to commit to UT yet even though I will most likely be attending.

Not binding. There is a separate way you accept your offer of admissions. The housing deposit just saves your place in line.

Will UT release any decision this Friday?

My daughter got her COFA acceptance today. She checked last night and was still in review. But at 10:00 AM she checked and got the Congratulations header and the additional tabs…
Good luck to you all!

Congratulations @HookEm89‌ ! I logged in just now and don’t see the “in review” message nor the Congratulations message… Don’t know what that means!

UT is visiting my HS on the 26th and it’s listed for “Juniors and Admitted Seniors”. All signs are pointing to the 20th as being the magic day

@mom1419‌ mine turned the same way as well. Not sure what that means either.

@mom1419 and @chilliums‌ Same thing here. Don’t know what that indicates.

Congrats to all! Anyone accepted at Cockrell? When did you send in your applications?

I’m just ready for the waiting to be over, one way or the other. Patience is not my greatest virtue

So it looks like Cockrell and McCombs are going to be the last schools to make their decisions. From what I’ve seen from friends it looks like all Fine Arts majors got their decisions today. Is anyone not applying to McCombs/Cockrell still waiting for a decision?

Those are my first and second choices :frowning:

@frostcause‌ I’m waiting on Liberal Arts (second preference is UGS)

Waiting on McCombs/UGS here.

@frostcause yes, my son is waiting to hear from Environmental Science (geography track) in the college of liberal arts. He was auto-admitted in September.
