University of Texas--Austin Admissions

@helicopter8 I am now worried that they may say at their own choicest time that all the reservations are lost due to system error, you need to re-register again. “Server Error” does not make sense to me either, I can not imagine that they could not program to print out an error “requested session is already full try another session”!!! if not graying out the sessions that are full areleady.

Any news on this? I’m trying now and can’t even load the freshman orientation web page. It says the server where the site is located is not responding. Has anyone spoken to someone at UT?

It is up now. @collegepapa. My weird imagination is correct. Now they open up all sessions

D got registered!

Still can’t get thru, ugh, unhappy first UT experience

Got in. Registered. But can’t check to see if it worked because the page won’t load again.

Good thing I’ve been a Longhorn all my life because I can’t think of one positive experience I’ve had with this admissions system. I’m not sure I would recommend it to anyone.

For those who got through: how did you get in? I’m using the link from My Status page. Is there a bettet way?

I had the page bookmarked from this morning. I just refreshed the page.

@Austinwannabe‌ . Try this https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/adm/orientation/registration/

Your child received an email from New Student Services this morning or yesterday with a link to the orientation page. When you click on that link, it should take you directly there. It worked for us just now - we were already logged into MyStatus when we tried.

Use the link in your child’s email. It will take you right there…no crashing. The link from the status page doesn’t work. TY txstateomind for the tip!

@helicopter8 TY It worked!

Thanks all. I did finally get in, but not in time to get the session I needed, resulting in major acheduling headaches for me. Off-the-charts unhappy to find out I had been trying a broken link all day (from the my status page), and not once did it tell me to use the link in the email instead. Hard not to wonder whether 4 more years of this is going to be worth it.

@austinwannabe, I read somewhere that if you keep checking back over the next few weeks that its possible that spots will open up in sessions that are now closed. So there’s still a chance that you will be able to get in the session you want/need.

@txstateomind, thanks for the tip - I will definitely try that!

@helicopter8 Thanks, unfortunately I had go to Doc’s at that time. But my spouse got in and registered successfully for the session we had in mind. But status says we signed up for a placement test, which is not the case. So we do not want to touch it for changing again. We decided to call NSS tomorrow or a couple of days later to correct just that part.

Another issue with registration is the confirmation email. It does not specify the date/session we signed up for. So, we took a printout of the status page for records.

@helicopter8 My theory, for only last two sessions working, is that the UT IT guys fixed issues and wanted to test it out with real people by enabling only last two sessions. Thus their QA is done by all of us. Then they enabled it at 5pm. And of course, they know peole will keep trying to change session, if possible.

@collegepapa. I think most, if not all people, have a registered placement test. I believe this is the Math assessment test that would happen during orientation. But it is good to call and confirm. And yes, I agree that we were “volunteered” to be QA of their patched system before it was relaunched at 5pm :slight_smile:
