University of Texas Housing

Just needed some advice...

I am going to be applying for housing soon at UT for fall of 2012.

Just wondering, what the pros and cons are of single and shared spaces?
Also, the pros and cons of community, connected, and private bathes?

Lastly, which places are best to live depending on the type of bath..like which dorm is best with the private bath..which is best with a connecting bath,,and which is best with a private bath. For the first year, I will be getting my basics and applied to the Liberal Arts school. Also, is there a really good dorm or really bad one? Id like one that is quiet yet not so quiet you cant make friends and close to classes, restuarants, etc.

Thanks a bunch!!!

PLEASE someone give their advice or share what they know about the housing at UT. Im running out of options of who to ask.

I do go to UT, but other people on CC have answered your questions better than I could right now:

I go to UT. Honestly, some of the dorms are good, some suck. It depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re a girl and looking for a very close-knit environment (think sorority-like) then check out Hardin House. If you’re a freshman, Jester is actually a pretty good dorm. Blanton is good if you’re an honors student or looking for a quiet place. There’s lots of off-campus places too; The Castilian is on the drag (a bit expensive) but a good place if you want to party (the RA’s don’t care). There’s co-ops too, which are great if you still want to live with people but have your own kitchen and have more responsibilities - there’s also crazy parties and a generally hippie atmosphere. Lastly, there’s tons of apartments around town if you want to live alone; I’d recommend anything in Hyde Park.

Thanks bunch! Do you know anything about Dobie or University Towers? I know they are private dorms, but thats about it.
