University of Texas or CU Boulder?

Ever since I started the application process CU and UT have been my top 2 choices. I have been accepted to both, Art History at UT, and Geology at Boulder. I am extremely stressed over having to choose between to great schools in my two favorite cities in America. UT is very prestigious in Texas and generates great job oppurtunities. And Boulder is prestigious in Colorado, also Colorado is my favorite state other than Texas. I love the city of Austin and the atmosphere, but I love being able to ski and hike and fish in Boulder. HOW DO I DECIDE??? Any feedback would be great. I have until the end of April to decide.

The missing elements in your equation are the major and the money. Let’s say you get to Boulder and find that Geology just isn’t for you. How good is Boulder’s art history department or any other department outside of Geology (Boulder’s a great place to study geology)? I minored in archeology at Boulder, which isn’t quite Art history but there was some overlap, and it was a fantastic program back then. Had a chance to do a dig in Carthage my senior year but had to turn it down. Another cat was working on roman underwater construction in Israel every summer. But Texas is one of the great art history departments–and Boulder is not. AND Texas is one of the great geology programs, too. So from a strictly quality of education criterion, UTexas is where you should go. You love both towns, so that balances out. You can ski in Colorado on spring and xmas break. You can fish there once the runoff ends–get yourself a summer job in Dillon or Estes. Dedicate yourself to school work when you’re not skiing and fishing, without either of those distracting you while you’re supposed to be studying. And UT will be a lot cheaper than Boulder, and you can put some money aside for recreation. Then after you graduate you can live in Colorado for the rest of your life.

By the way, Ill probably switch departments at either school. If I go to UT id try to switch to Business or Liberal Arts, and if I go Boulder I would switch to Business @jkeil911
