University of the Pacific

Heya,

I am applying to the University of the Pacific's Pre-Phamacy program, and I am well qualified (GPA and SAT Score wise) for their 3+4 program (and maybe 3+3 as well, at least GPA wise). However, UOP strongly recommends that students take SAT Subject Tests for pre-professional majors (although for general admission they say they are not required), however they only use the tests for placement. Will not taking the subject tests prevent me from being admitted to their Pre-Pharmacy program?

Regarding placement, I am currently taking AP Calculus and AP English and I think I will do fairly well on the AP tests, so generally I should be on track for their 4+3 or 3+3 programs. Will they most likely consider this?

Regarding placement for Chemistry, I have taken a General Chemistry course at a local CC, and I did extremely well in it. This should also show that I am prepared for chemistry.

UOP’s website says that SAT subject tests in Math and Chemistry are “strongly recommended” for pre-pharmacy applicants.
Do you plan on taking them? Are you concerned about this from a placement or an admissions perspective?

It’s more of a confidence issue. I don’t feel prepared or have the time to prepare for subject tests. So from an admissions perspective, I think I have shown that I can do well in higher level courses. But concerning the rest of my application, it would look bad if my subject scores were horrible.
