University of the Pacific

How difficult is admission into University of the Pacific, Stockton....I checked and the average gpa is 3.5...I have a 3.2, but LOTS of ec...Do I stand a chance? I've been working my butt off studying for the sat so hopefully I'll score good on it....I'm going to be a senior this year, any suggestions on how I can beef up my record&stuff.....Thanks

You should have no problem if you get a decent SAT score, this is not a very competitive school for admission. Especially if you can pay in full, I've seen several kids get in with 3.0/1000. This is not a good school for financial aid and the bar is higher if you need any.

Phew......You made my day...Thanks a lot zagat...any other info appreciated...Thanks!

It doesn't seem too hard...but if you're in it for the pharmacy program I think that'll be tougher on the grades/SATs.

Yes, the pharm program is harder to gain acceptance to, but for the general university you should be fine

I want to major in either bio/biochem/ or psych. So you all think I'll be ok, thats good to hear....I plan on applying to the dental school, but thats further down the line

It's not hard at all. My friend is going there this week and had a 3.5, 900 SAT with very limited ECs.

what the...? How did your friend get a 3.5 gpa but a 900 on the sat??
So basically I still have a chance to be accepted with 3.2 and lots of ec's?

oh yea...does someone want to help me with my personal statements (give me tips) on what I should write about..?

1. Describe a significant learning experience in your life. What was it about the experience, more than the subject, that made it significant?
2. What must happen in the next four years for you to consider your college experience a success?

Ever heard of good students, horrible test takers.

Are you serious about the financial aid? It seems as if they are very generous with it. They came to my school for a college visit last year and they said stuff like if you get a 1300 SAT, you automatically receive $10,000 scholarship and if you do like 200 hours of community service, logged, you get another $10,000. Or was that guy lying to me...because he said he was from the admissions department

Schools like that are generous with kids whose scores are way higher than their average to try to raise their ranking.
