University of Toronto Chances

Around the winter time, I applied to UToronto in Canada as an international and undergraduate Biology major from the US, and I am feeling doubt because I don't think I am good and worthy enough for them. Currently, I am an insecure high school senior, and I'm worried about my academic credentials; since I don't think I will shine in their admission pool, and I really want to attend UToronto, so I am taking my time and prioritizing my education more seriously now. From what I've heard, UToronto only focuses more on numbers rather than outside of school activities and such. During my first three years of high school, I attended public school, and I did take apart in school activities. However this year, I decided to do online school/home school due to personal issues. I am so conflicted yet disappointed with myself. Based on my academic report, what would be my chances of getting accepted (and I am willing to take advice on becoming more successful if it isn't too late)?

According to College boards website:

They regard the following as very important: GPA and Standardized Test Scores
Important: Rigor of secondary school record
Considered: Extracurricular Activities, Volunteer Work, Work Experience

Parchment reports their average GPA to be 3.5, and yours would be a 3.6 so you’re good in that field. Honestly, you have a good GPA! So don’t worry about it  Their average SAT score is 1220 though, so I would recommend that you take it again if possible. Also, you should really consider studying for it on the Khan Academy website (if you haven’t already), I found it really helpful! You’ve also taken pretty academically challenging/rigorous classes, so thats great.

What are your ECs?

Hey! Thanks for your reply! I participated in many ECs like DECA, Octagon Club, Spanish Club, Key Club, Interact Club, Academic Super Bowl, Interact Club, Art Club, and I think there’s more, but that is most I can remember.

I have read some posts about UToronto and people said that they are more focused on numbers rather than out of school activities and such. Standardized tests have always been one of my weaknesses, but I am going to take my ACT with writing next month, and hopefully I do good on that.

They focus on grades and test scores mainly, I would say about a 29 and above on your ACT will be good, but I beleive the deadline for sending scores and information is February 2. Having a solid A average (average all your number grades) will be good for admissions.
Just to keep in mind everyone in Canada learns French, however the only provence that speaks it daily is Quebec, so not knowing French is not a big deal. Good luck on your admissions!

Here’s a tip: they care MOST ABOUT SENIOR YEAR. My GPA is really bad (around 3.3 UW with even a D+ in french freshmen year) but in my senior year, I took 5 APs, and got As in 3, B+ in 2. I got accepted into one of their most competitive programs, Computer Science.

My ACT was pretty high tho (33), so im not sure if ur sat will affect u.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask me for any more questions and best of luck!!!
