I’m planning on applying to the University of Toronto’s downtown campus as a high school student from the US, but I’m having a hard time finding their admissions statistics. I’ll most likely double major in bioethics and visual studies.
My GPA is in the high 80s/low 90s (3.42 UW, 3.6 W) and my ACT score is 29, but I’m taking the test again in September. Does U of T superscore?
I’ve taken two AP Exams (don’t know the scores yet) and three AP Classes in total. Next school year I’m taking four more AP classes.
Any information on U of T’s admissions would be appreciated!
@142319 Canadian universities quote their admissions stats very differently from US universities. U of T has cutoffs i.e. minimum grades required to get into each stream.
Visual Studies is within the Daniels Faculty of Architecture. Their admissions process is different from the other undergraduate faculties with which I’m more familiar (Arts and Science and Applied Science). There is a supplementary application which is very important in admissions decisions. https://www.daniels.utoronto.ca/admissions/undergraduate/one-idea-supplementary-application The average grades for admitted students was 88% in 2014, the last year published data was available.
There are 6 admissions categories in Arts and Science at the St George campus. When you apply to U of T Arts and Science, you can apply to one admissions category. At the end of your first year, you apply to a program of study (major). For most (but not all) majors, it doesn’t matter which admissions category you were admitted under. Bioethics is under the Humanities category and the Physical and Mathematical Sciences category. The admissions cutoff grades for last year are here: http://www.artsci.utoronto.ca/futurestudents/admissions/guidance/grades
