University of Toronto Choosing a major

I am a student applying to the faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto. I am not sure if I want to study economics(Social Science), Mathematics(Physical and Mathematical Sciences), or psychology(part of the life sciences division) and I was wondering if it is necessary for me to make a selection. If it is necessary, would it be possible for me to switch during my first year?

If you are in one admission stream, you may have difficulty signing up for courses in a different admission stream as registration will open up for students in the admission stream earlier than you. Economics and psychology would be examples of those.

You don’t apply for a program of study until the end of your first year. Some programs of study have higher requirements than others. Economics is one of those with higher requirements.

So, in general, it would be a really good idea to apply to the admission stream of the course you want to be in.
