I'm a white male. On August 8th (the day of the application being available to the public), I applied "early decision" to U of U for Fall 2014. My GPA is mediocre/low (3.2 GPA) and my ACT score is 28. I don't know if I'm going to retake the ACT.

I really messed up freshman year and didn't do very well. I've been fighting to get myself out of a hole for a long time, and it's partially payed off (I'm sure a lot of us know how that goes). Anyways, I have taken high-rigor courses during the senior year (4 college classes at a local university) and am trying my best to accomplish a lot and show I am capable of plenty.

I plan on majoring in Political Science (double major in Econ) - Minor in Computer Science (?) or Communications (?).

Please chance me for University of Utah. It has been my dream school to move down to Salt Lake City, UT and become a Ute. God bless all of you! Thanks for taking the time to do this

I am the Student Body President of my high school, I attended Boys’ State for the State of Minnesota, took 4th place in the state for the Voice of Democracy competition, played football, managed basketball, and participated in Student Congress, speech, and drama.

That should definitley help! According to college data, the most important things for UU is GPA, rigor of classes, and SAT scores. Your classes are good, only about 20% of people go there with a 3.2 or under, and I’m not sure what you SAT’s are.

Your good. With an ACT of 28 they won’t deny you. All three of my siblings go/graduated from the U (We live in SLC). Anyways there stats were half yours and they were just fine. It’s actually my “safety” school. But if you’re applying to honors college they wanna see if you were in NHS, and level of classes you took.

You certainly have a strong ACT score for U of U. I have seen many people getting into U of U with lower test scores and GPA. Don’t worry about it too much!
