Hi all!
I am a junior from Ontario, a mid 90s student hoping to major in math or bio and have been looking at schools like U of T, Mac and Waterloo.
I really like the idea of a smaller school and was recently told about UVic, but I cannot seem to find anyone who knows anything about it. Does anyone know about its math/science programs or how reputable it is (in terms of later getting into grad school)?

Uvic has good Math, Science, and Engineering. I am in Computer Science here at the moment and am enjoying myself a lot. Good professors, beautiful campus, nice people. I am not sure about grad school admittance reputation, however.

UVic has some very good programs but it doesn’t have the full range of engineering degrees - you would have to go to UBC for civil engineering, for example. I believe that they are well known for software engineering, though. Perhaps you could do some online investigation and look at the profs teaching the programs that you are interested in and see where they got their degrees and the kind of research that they are doing. I’m afraid that I don’t have any information on the success of graduates getting into grad schools afterwards. My DS applied there as his safety, but will go to UChicago instead. I think that he would have preferred UBC over UVic (he didn’t apply to UBC though because he was accepted EA) but only because there is a prof at UBC who was doing some research in my DS’s area of interest in physics.
