S22 OOS direct admit to Foster business administration with P&G scholarship. 3.86UW/4.8 W, 13 APs, 35 ACT, 4 yr varsity athlete, club treasurer, musician, community service, various part time jobs. He’s excited to have an option besides his state flagship school. Otherwise its been a very tough admissions cycle (still waiting on deferrals from 3 other EA schools, but he’s losing interest in those the longer it drags out).

She was accepted- pre-decisional science (she applied for microbiology). So happy for her!

OOS. Direct admit business school. P&G 5400.

That’s because there is no direct admit to neuroscience. You have to take 3 Bio requirements before you can apply.

I apologize, I was mistaken. They take 15% direct admit.

Accepted and granted Purple and Gold Scholarship. OOS

UW isn’t a safety for top in state students. College counselors tell students there is absolutely no guarantee with UW.

Have her appeal. Same exact thing happened to someone we know last year with similar stats. Ended up getting in.

Thank you @bellevuemom1 . It’s my son, he was very upset. He wanted to attend UW with his friends. I will talk to him about appeal.

Admitted! OOS 3.98 uw gpa, 13 IB classes, IB diploma candidate, not many extracurriculars

I’m seeing so many OOS acceptances, but very few in-state. We were frankly shocked that our in-state son was waitlisted. He has 3.9 gpa and all the APs and “extras”. Wondering if anyone has heard they are waitlisting more in-state high achievers (who will likely get offers elsewhere) to secure more OOS dollars?

In-State son was admitted as “Pre-Science” but had applied directly to the Allen Institute and did not get an offer. He is adamant to do computer engineering and has several offers from OOS schools so most likely will go elsewhere but in-state tuition would have been nice!

Sorry.

D got in with Purple and Gold Scholarship.

Acceptance rate in previous years was relatively higher in-state than OOS, especially for things like CS (1-3% for OOS). This year may have waitlisted more in-state but not sure

But also there’s some sample bias, like I bet most people here are from Bay Area / Cal or other populated states so you’ll see more from them

From very limited sample size of our local in-state high school, it’s does not seem to be the case. It’s a normal public school at far end of the state, several STEM kids with high GPA (4.0), lots of APs and stellar extracurriculars are all admitted to CS. It’s entirely possible there are more chances from WLs this year, because students apply for so many schools this year
