UW Autumn 2018 Transfer Discussion (University of Washington)

Hey, everyone!

So I just applied for UW for autumn quarter. I’ve seen threads like these all over this site for different years where applicants keep each other informed of any updates they receive. I thought it would be cool to make another one for this year! I was reading on the website that the notification period is june/july, which seems ridiculous! Along with some of the threads I found, it seems like there’s unofficial acceptance (emails regarding creating your UW myID account, financials aid awards/ inquiries/ etc.) a month or two after submitting the app, then you receive the official big congratulatory colorful folder of acceptance in june/july. I hope that’s the case because I am so anxious! UW has been my dream school for as long as I can remember, so actually applying and possibly making my dream a reality is definitely nerve-wracking. I hope this year is the same case as previous years, because I don’t think I can wait for five months (especially if I am getting offers from other universities).

I hope this thread is helpful and we can all keep it going until we receive updates and acceptances/rejections!!

I also applied to transfer and I am also very nervous. I applied for summer quarter though.
I applied for summer because I wanted to take summer classes anyway to stay on track since I plan to double major. Anyone know if there are any disadvantages to summer ?

I applied for UW Autumn Quarter too! I’m so terrified because I have an equal chance of getting in and an equal chance of being denied :frowning:

Hey everyone! I’m an applicant for autumn and will be graduating from my cc in June with an AA-DTA. I applied to both UW-S and UW-T, and today my status for Tacoma changed and my unofficial transcript loaded. Definitely agree that waiting until June/July for admission into the Seattle campus is a bit of a nail biter, but - if I’m honest - Tacoma is the campus that I have my heart set on, anyway.

@octoberblues NO WAY!! So the rumors are true… I just made my UW id account and checked all of those things but nothing came up… Just the regular old “We’ll inform you of any updates or decisions” notice… Sigh. I’ve been checking my email at least 10 times a day now since applying.

Hey, everyone. So a little update for the waiting period. There was a college fair at my CC and I talked to a rep at the UW table and asked if I really had to wait five months to hear back. He said I should most likely hear back in May, and if not, then June. So… only two months left! Good luck everyone. Keep us updated!!

@dntnds Well, I have taken summer classes here at my CC. Not much different other than the workload is more and definitely more extensive because you’re trying to cram a whole semester/ quarter into a matter of twoish months. But other than that, they’re usually not very different. I think it’s smart to take a summer quarter at UW though, just to test the waters and to see if it really is for you. good luck!!

just bumping this post! I hate waiting this long 4 months to find out if i get in. My little brother is also waiting. He’s a senior in high school and is waiting for his results either this week or next week!

@tylerphan sadly, us transfers have to wait longer

I’m hoping that the wait isn’t much longer. I’ve seen transfers in years past get in as early as April. Crossing my fingers that’s the case for some of us!

Hey everyone! First and foremost - best of luck to everyone who applied! I applied for autumn 2018 as a transfer and was wondering how one is able to create a netID? I read past threads where people mentioned creating one without having received an e-mail? I submitted my app the day of the deadline (Feb 15) and have not yet received an e-mail. When I try to create an account - it says I am not eligible to. I called the office of admissions and they say they haven’t sent any e-mails out to create an ID out and won’t until May? I thought people usually get an e-mail a lot sooner than that? Maybe I’m just getting impatient … anyway, thanks!

@akoopa44 It could have been because of when you submitted your application. I started & submitted mine when the app came out back in December & got an email to set up my UW NetID in late January. So maybe you’ll get it later this month. If not, email UW-IT Service Center is my second best guess if you’re not able to get through to admissions and get it sooner.

I received my email two days after I applied. It just a link to this http://admit.washington.edu/apply/applied/uw-netid/

hey kimkim00, I actually did receive that e-mail ~2 days after as well; however, when I tried to make the netid it says I wasn’t eligible … I was thinking maybe there’s another e-mail that’s going to be sent out, though I’m not sure. Thanks for that info juiletjuju3! It probably does depend on the time the application was submitted.

That’s just what I assume to be the problem since I had to wait so long.

Quick question for anyone that knows:
I’m in the last quarter of community college and one of the classes I’m taking in my last quarter is a college level math class. Do you think UW would want me to send updated transcripts after I’m done with the quarter to prove the I did and pass (hopefully) math?

@julietjuju3 I’ve heard they usually don’t ask for updated transcripts, but I think if you told them your situation in your personal statement or additional info section, they should understand. But, they could ask you for updated transcripts! Good luck.

I got my email to make my netID today and I applied February 14th! I almost thought the email I got was an admissions decision and nearly had a heart attack, but then I saw it was just to create a new account haha

@Cyndaquil That would have been so nice! I wonder if they will send our admissions decisions for us early. Waiting until June/July makes me way too anxious!

@julietjuju3 I talked to an admissions rep at my school during a transfer fair and asked if we really have to wait until then, and he said we should hear back around april/may, but the latest is june/july. Hoping that’s true!!!

@golddawgs OMG that’s AWESOME! I’ll be checking the portal even more than I do now when April rolls around!
