University of Washington Seattle for dance

I’m local to the Seattle area and I wanted to see if anyone has any input on the dance program at UW Seattle. Likes, Dislikes? What are the stats to get into the program? Classical, modern, mixed? Major, minor, double majors possible/doable?

My daughter is a freshman in high school and I’m trying to look ahead

@safiastyle When we looked into UW we saw that it was a mixed program, no real focus on any one particular style. We were told that as long as you had the grades to get into the university you simply had to declare as a dance major. It’s a non-audition school. 1st week of classes are known as placement classes and the instructors will tell the student if they “feel” like they are in the correct class or if the should go to a different level class. But again anyone who gets into the school can declare themselves a dance major.

As far a double majoring or minoring, I would say if your DD can take and pass several AP/IB classes in HS that will help lighten the course load quite a bit. Hope this helps!
