University of Washington, Seattle

Hi! I’m a high school senior and I recently submitted the application to my first-choice school, University of Washington.

I’d like to know my chances of getting into UW. I have a good GPA, but my SAT/ACT scores are nothing greater than average.

I have a 4.04 GPA, 1620 SAT and 21 ACT.

I have never been committed to one sport all four years, but I was on the swim/dive teams my freshman year and actually placed first in a dive competition. I played field hockey my junior and senior year and received awards both years. (11th: “Best Defensive Player”, 12th: “Most Improved Player”)

I have been on the Principal’s List my sophomore and junior years for earning a 4.0 GPA and higher.

I haven’t done too much community service/volunteer work, but over this past summer I volunteered at a community center preparing and serving meals to low-income senior citizens for 15 hours.

I am involved in California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and have only been a part of this in-school club this year. CSF encourages us as students to do well in school because our grades do matter to colleges and it also helps us earn community service/volunteer work hours by pushing us to go out and do them.

Lastly, I am in ASB/Leadership. I hold the position of Senior Class President and and I organize class meetings and keep my class informed about school activities.

Please let me know the likeliness of me getting into the University of Washington! Anything helps.

UW sees GPA as a top notch priority and your GPA is very beneficial to your overall portfolio. I’d say if you have exemplary essays then you definitely have a good shot at admissions.

Also, when you applied to UW did you see more than five boxes to list your extra-curricular activities? I only saw a max of five and didn’t see a section to submit my volunteer service. I hope that I didn’t mess up on this part of my application.

That’s very reassuring. Thanks!

When I applied, there was only a maximum of five boxes for extra-curricular activities. And there was no section for volunteer service, unlike the UC application.

is that gpa your unweighted? Because UW only looks at unweighted scores

My unweighted GPA is 3.8

Are you in-state or out of state? I’m in WA and I know a lot of in-state people got accepted last year, almost everyone from my school that applied got accepted. Your chances look good considering your GPA and extra curriculars.

I am an out-of-state applicant. California, more specifically. Does that change my chances?
