Ivy Grad is envious that the Badgers can multi-task (drink/study) better than the boys in Hanover and New Haven.

Yeah, I'm real envious I can't put that kind of accolade on my resume.

Ivy Grad you are one of the most pretentious people I know. Are you just dissapointed that you missed such a fun social experience during your college years and instead have to bash others who are getting both a great education and having way more fun than you? Believe it or not, people skills are just as important as where you got your degree.

No, I think Ivy Grad is often a defender of the truth. Perhaps this posting was unneeded, but overall he is a great service to this site. I think by defending elite institutions he might come across as pretentious, but truthfully he isn't.

I think IvyGrad is just taking a shot at barron (or barrons?) for fun, right IvyGrad?

I found it humorous. Lighten up guys.

You KNOW me? Really? ... what's my first name then? What's that? You don't even know my first name?

You don't know me from a hole in the wall.

First of all, I had a GREAT time in college thank you very much. Again, you presume way too much - you now KNOW what MY college experience was like? AND that it was "disappointing"? Pray tell omniscient one, what's my favorite drink? Oh, you don't know? Thought so.

And YOU and calling ME pretentious?

Next, am I bashing? BASHING? REALLY? Does this thread BASH University of Wisconsin? Jeez take it easy. Just a little light hearted fun.

Besides, all I did was REPORT the news - I didn't create it. Nothing more. Last time I checked I didn't work at a magazine company. Don't shoot the messenger.

If you have a problem with the ranking perhaps you should direct your misplaced anger and bitterness at the ones who CREATED it - try the editor in chief or publisher as a start.

Thanks for that advice. I think as a successful entrepreneur, former officer at a top tier investment bank, former student body president, etc. my people skills have done just fine in the "real world".

p.s. What is the point of having good "people skills" on College Confidential? Are we here to have a "good time"?

As Slipper said, my main objective is to be a defender of truth (I like how that sounds). I'm not here to make "cyber" friends.

If my posts offend you then don't read them.

Ivy Grad, playboy has ranked MIT, Vanderbilt and Dartmouth among the top 25 party schools in the last few years. I don't think that being a party school and being a great university are mutually exclusive.

Yeah, and Dartmouth actually beat Wisconsin in the important categories of Binge Drinking, Unprotected Sex, and Showing Up for Class with a Hangover.

"important categories?" LOL TourGuide, you are a riot!

Actually I think he/she got the link from my post of it on the UW discussion site here. I have mixed feelings on this but probably not worth worrying about.
I think UW>>>Dartmouth in sex, protected or not. The others may be up for debate.

First of all - people should take this for what it is - a light hearted ranking - nothing more and nothing less - does anyone take anything seriously coming from an adult magazine?

Next, of course great universities can have a great social atmosphere - but let's be real - "party school" is not the first words associated with MIT or Dartmouth.

Whereas other universities face an uphill battle living down that kind of reputation (many large state universities come to mind).

Well sorry if I misinterpreted the point of the post but it comes off to me as just discounting UW.

How does Williams rank vs. Bowdoin when it comes to the categories of Unabashed Promisquity and Celebratory Public Couch Burning? I'm guessing those infamous co-ed bathrooms and their legendary jock exploits put Williams over the top and make them the Wisconsin of the LACs.

By the way, given the recent headlines, I don't think Wisconsin needs to take any crap re out-of-control parties.

I hear you Ivy_Grad. But do "perceptions" really exist in educated and sophisticated circles? Are you fooled by myths and perceptions? We both know that students at all universities party. It's what many 18-21 year olds like to do.
